Am I wrong for thinking this is ridiculous? Were talking 2nd grade here. Tissues? Ziploc bags? Post-it notes? and on top of everything another $5 just because  :-\

Better start explaining to your kid about the value of following instructions to the letter. It looks to be that kind of teacher.

One of my kids once needed a green, 2-pocket, plastic folder without prongs.  I went to 5 stores and finally found a folder that matched all of her criteria.  Then, on the first day of school, the teacher mentioned that the folder doesn't have to be green.  Thanks a lot!

Many schools have added classroom supplies to the list.  they keep the tissues, ziplock bags, etc in storage and take out one box at a time throughout the year.
My grandkids have Lysol wipes on their list.
