HELP: Booking a seat for an infant online
« on: October 21, 2012, 12:50:36 AM »
Twice in the past few months, I have missed out on travel deals due to difficulties booking a seat for my infant online.  Many international airlines (eg, ElAl and Alitalia, most recently) have spots of adults, children (2yo and up) and infants 0-24 months.  If you select infant, you then have to call the airline to get their ticket, which of course negates the great deal I was getting.  Any thoughts on how to avoid this problem next time woudl be greatly appreciated.

Just book as an adult with fictitious birth date, best would be if kid born in 2012 put in 1912, that way you won't have a problem with TSA
Life isn't about checking the boxes. Nobody cares.

Just flew JetBlue, booked my baby a regular seat with wrong b-day  and had no problems at all.

1- The problem may be with the airline as well as with the TSA, as airline may not allow you to fly without purchasing another  ticket.

2- Have you ever tried? It is not easy spending $1600.00, which is what i would cost me for two seats for infants on alitalia, and not being sure it will work.

I do that all the time. Bdays are meaningless.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

How often? Is it possible different airlines have different policies about this?

Little off topic but my travel agent once put my baby as under 9 months (he was older than 9 months) so he should confirm a bassinet.  When we got to airport they gave him bassinet...I forgot which airline...sorry
It's not about the quantity of your posts.  It's about the quality.

My TA put the birth date under my wife's name by mistake and had no problem(with El Al).
