I was actually very touched by the humility of Rabbi Sheiner (who is a very choshuve Rosh Yeshiva in Yerushalayim), and how he complimented Rabbi Frand's speech. Granted, he has a unique style and his delivery is phenomenal.

Hey galitzyaner, it doesn't seem like your all too familiar with very well known speakers/rosh yeshivas/keyboard players.

R' Frand is a very famous speaker. As someone that listens to his speeches all the time, I was not at all surprised by his delivery at the siyum hashas.

R' lazer Ginsburg - the mariv bal tefilah - is a chosheva rov.

Shabsi parnes - the keyboard player - is a professional one man band and top of the line in his field.

Anybody here listen to the zev Brenner show? He interviewed me today and said it should be in tonight's show. I'll be in class then. If anybody does let me know how bad I was

or let me know how I can listen in after in his website my computer is broken so I can't figure out his website and see if all his interviews are archived... (If not tonight then tomorrow night)

Thanks JJ for all your help with the siyum hashas's!! Did the stream from Binyanei Hauma also get recorded someplace - meaning is it automatic on ustream or your stream was actively recorded by a third party?

So that is what the 1000 is, sometimes the most obvious things slip by :-)

lol yup. Ummm it asks you if you want to save it once you stop the stream. So you'll just have to check if it was saved or not... I saw it for a few minutes looked pretty good! And your very welcome!!!

omg the comments are hilarious. I wish I knew who these people were! Its like the article got 67 shares on fbookfrom shmais but I'll never know who shared it. I was in 770 yesterday and someone comes over to me and says you look so familiar, I just laughed. It'll die down soon enough

not sure why you say no one "paid attention" to this- i am 100% sure that if any one of them came to the siyum hashas, they would have been just as much part of the achdus as anyone else. what exactly were they expecting? a female to be misayem? to have mixed seating? imho- the guy is bitter about something, so he wrote this article about the siyum hashas- the bottom line is the "ultra-orthodox" have certain beliefs, and just because they dont go against them doesnt mean that they are not excepting. Should we also believe in more than one creator because there are religions that believe that (i am not comparing the two i am just giving an example) and the fact that they didnt have all those religions come to the event, that means the jews are not "accepting"

I'm not sure how they expected Aguda and MGhT to recognize/acknowledge the "non-Orthodox" misaymim (are there really that many of those) without legitimizing their self-definition of Judaism? In general I find it ironic that these people pursue scholarship in "Rabbinic Judaism", a (slowly dying?) breed of contemporary apikursim/minim.

The point wasn't that they weren't included but that it was portrayed as an event of mass achdus amongst all of Klal Yisroel which it wasn't

Funny, I just forwarded this email this morning with the following comments, guess I was right

Is it just me or is it a shame that they always bring up women's learning in these things. It's really not about that at all and it really clouds the issue. It makes it into a theological/ideals issue which it's really not.
