What's funny about this story is she accuses Nigel of being haredi and having an issue with men sitting next to women, and ultimately Nigel has the fellow next to him in 47E switch seats with the woman in 47B and Nigel ends up sitting next to a woman; not a man. Strange...

In short, I would think yes.
Ime it's more pleasant when one can sit next to both his father and his friend, so that he can speak to both of them with no one having to speak across an aisle.

Exactly. I'm sure she believes her story, and probably is not willfully lying. She decided he wanted her to move because she is a woman, and she could no longer hear anything different from that point on.
