My wife had a cousin who was a billionaire (he passed away) and said that the nicest birthday gifts he got was from the relatives who gave handmade birthday cards...

So maybe just a huge sign made by your kids (or if you don't have any, your nephews and nieces) to hang up saying Mazal Tov on whatever the kiddish is for.

several Non-kosher companies have been featuring Popinsanity on their charcuterie boards - not sure where they got the idea  :-\

Anything on a board is obviously better and (at least) double the price :)

If the Kiddush is for a baby you can do a diaper board

What I had in mind was below budget. If its Brooklyn there a guy in Boro Park, calls himself berels bakes. Made beautiful and delicious cakes. (Not affiliated, just a customer, I picked up a few cakes when I made kiddush)

Looks very sim to KAYX

Every time I see that brand name I get annoyed that they didn't call it Popsanity

This seems strange to me, like wouldn't the gift be for whatever the kiddush is for? If it's a baby girl, why would you give a "kiddush" gift and not a baby gift?

Isn't it like bringing a cake/cookie/candy platter to a shalom Zachar?

more of a woman’s side thing to do, when your buddy/colleague/boss makes a kiddush it’s pretty common to send a bottle/board when you’re not close “family” friends

If you know that he's already getting "a ton of meat boards, fish boards and alcohol" on top of whatever he himself is buying for the kiddush then maybe a non-food gift would be more unique.

If it's a kiddush for a newborn, maybe a rocking chair, "for those nights when you're the one who has to calm the baby" or noise-cancelling headphones, "for when you don't want to be the one who hears the baby."
