ICE CREAM RECALL: The Ice Cream House is voluntarily recalling all Dairy Ice Cream Products and Non-dairy [Parve] frozen Dessert products due to potential health risk in regards to Listeria monocytogenes.

Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and other side effects.

The products being recalled were sold at the Ice Cream House in Brooklyn and through retail supermarkets in New York, New Jersey and Ohio

Just in time for this month's Consumer Reports... Headline article was how to eat ten most likely to go bad foods. I skimmed it, saw lots of mention of listeria.

This isn’t some big corporation that will pay a settlement and move on. They’re probably already hurting from the recall and this is the last thing they need.

“Defendant’s advertising and marketing campaign is false, deceptive, and misleading because the products do contain, or risk containing, listeria monocytogenes, which is dangerous to one’s health, well-being, and even life,” the Real Kosher class action says. “Nevertheless, defendant does not list or mention listeria monocytogenes anywhere on the products’ packaging or labeling.”
