Think of Moving?

Airports:
  • CLE is about 15 minutes from downtown and 25-30 minutes from the Jewish community.  It's a focus city for Frontier, Spirit, and United.
  • The RTA (Rapid transit train) at Brookpark station has free parking and is just 1 train stop (3 minutes) to the stop inside the airport. The train costs $2.50 and the schedule is here: http://www.riderta.com/routes/redline/schedules/current#WestboundWeekday
An uber from Brookpark station to CLE is about $10.
  • Uber between the Jewish community and CLE is about $30.
  • CLE off-site parking is about $9/day, on-site parking is $17-$22/day, and curbside valet parking is $35/day.
  • CAK is ~40 minutes from the Jewish community and located nearby the NFL Hall of Fame.
  • Uber between the Jewish community and CAK is about $45.
  • CAK parking is $7/day for long-term and $15-$18/day for short-term.
  • PIT is ~100 minutes from the Jewish community. It offers nonstop service to London, Montreal, and more.

Hotels:
  • There is a Hyatt Place in Legacy Village within walking distance of the Jewish community, though it's located just outside of the Eruv. It costs only 8K points/night.
  • There is a nice Hyatt Regency downtown for 12K points/night (25 minutes drive) in a unique vintage arcade building and an excellent spa that gives hotel guests 25% off and accepts SpaFinder certs from Costco that can be purchased for an additional 20% off.
  • The nicest hotel in Cleveland is like the Ritz-Carlton downtown. Marriott's Metropolitan at The 9 is also highly regarded, with a bar in an old vault. There is also a Hilton, Westin, and Kimpton downtown.

Transportation:
  • There is a subway/light rail connecting the airport with downtown, University Circle (where the Case campus and many museums are) and the Jewish community area, but renting a car is pretty much required unless you are just going between the airport and downtown.

What is the closest shul to the airport (mincha/maariv)?
There is Chabad downtown and in Lakewood/Westlake, but I doubt they have daily minyanim.

Most mainstream shuls are probably equidistant.

Did Nelson's Ledges Blue and White trails (See Aaron's guide in Wiki).
All the kids loved it!
Does not feel or look like CLE. Pretty wild.
We love that place. The kids think they've climbed mountains.

What is the story with the supposed hatzala call on April 28th? Is Brennan telling the truth? Is it completely fabricated? Why won't hatzala comment? It doesn't look good for them

Clarification Regarding Recent Social Media Claims about Hatzalah Cleveland
In response to recent social media posts containing false & or misleading claims about Hatzalah Cleveland, we would like to clarify the following FACTS:
1. Hatzalah is a globally respected volunteer emergency medical services provider, established more than 50 years ago:
Operating in cooperation with paid municipal EMS departments across six continents, dozens of countries, hundreds of cities, and over a dozen U.S. states, Hatzalah’s network of more than 7,000 volunteers responds to over 250,000 emergency calls annually, consistently enhancing patient outcomes. Hatzalah Cleveland, a state-licensed EMS agency, is staffed by local volunteers. Volunteers’ presence within community neighborhoods, schools, synagogues, and businesses enables uniquely rapid and culturally-sensitive care for those who request assistance, bridging the gap until municipal services arrive on scene.
2. Hatzalah Cleveland augments but does not replace municipal FD:
Our role is supportive, complementing municipal EMS departments. Multiple meeting requests have been extended over the past two years to discuss collaboration; these requests have repeatedly gone unanswered or have been declined. University Hospitals attempted to facilitate one such meeting, but it was refused.
3. 911 activation occurs on every call:
Hatzalah's dispatch protocol involves two dispatchers: one dispatcher remains in direct contact with the caller, while the second simultaneously contacts the municipal dispatch center with the location and nature of the emergency. Recent practices by municipal dispatchers—asking extraneous questions such as “when did Hatzalah receive the call” is unrelated to patient care—& have resulted in unnecessary delays.
4. Claims regarding an incident on April 28th are fabricated:
The alleged two-hour abandonment incident cited on social media never took place. Patient privacy laws (HIPAA) prevent discussing details publicly, but our records, procedures, and the facts categorically reject this fictitious accusation.
5. A proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) remains unanswered:
Weeks ago, Hatzalah Cleveland provided a detailed MOU proposal outlining operational protocols and mutual cooperation, but no formal feedback or negotiation request has been received.
6. Scene protocols have been clear and collaborative:
Upon the arrival of municipal responders, Hatzalah responders immediately transfer scene command, providing assistance only if necessary. Since January, these procedures have resulted in increased emergency call volume and improved patient transport rates. Interactions with all municipal emergency services personnel have remained professional, positive and collaborative.
7. No evidence has been provided for alleged delays:
Claims of 30 incidents involving delays between 5 and 30 minutes are unsubstantiated. Official documentation or run sheets supporting these allegations have not been produced despite repeated requests.
8. Separate meetings are warranted due to the tenor of prior interactions:
While regional collaboration is ideal in theory, experience has shown that joint meetings can be counterproductive when one municipality approaches the conversation with hostility or a predetermined narrative. Unfortunately, University Heights leadership has consistently taken an adversarial stance toward Hatzalah Cleveland, making it difficult to have a constructive, solutions-focused dialogue in a group setting. In the interest of making real progress, we believe that individual discussions with Cleveland Heights, Shaker Heights, and South Euclid—each of whom has engaged more openly—will be more fruitful. Hatzalah Cleveland remains committed to cooperative dialogue tailored to each city’s needs.
9. Hatzalah provides culturally sensitive care:
For over twenty years, another volunteer EMS service has operated within University Heights WITHOUT objection. For the past 4 months Hatzalah Cleveland similarly offers culturally sensitive, compassionate care designed to meet the specific needs of our community.
Our intention remains to cooperate professionally with all local emergency response agencies to enhance the safety and wellbeing of the communities we serve.

New signs:

Another plus to live in Cleveland.

In LA, NY, and Chicago the front page of the paper states how many people were murdered the day before, where the next pride parade will be, or which former mayor is going to jail.

In Cleveland its that they changed the speed limit to 35 (or was it 35 the whole time but they now put up a sign?).

Which agency is this?
The one that also has a private police force. Which implies the Mayor just wants a shomrim too
