Think of Moving?

Airports:
  • CLE is about 15 minutes from downtown and 25-30 minutes from the Jewish community.  It's a focus city for Frontier, Spirit, and United.
  • The RTA (Rapid transit train) at Brookpark station has free parking and is just 1 train stop (3 minutes) to the stop inside the airport. The train costs $2.50 and the schedule is here: http://www.riderta.com/routes/redline/schedules/current#WestboundWeekday
An uber from Brookpark station to CLE is about $10.
  • Uber between the Jewish community and CLE is about $30.
  • CLE off-site parking is about $9/day, on-site parking is $17-$22/day, and curbside valet parking is $35/day.
  • CAK is ~40 minutes from the Jewish community and located nearby the NFL Hall of Fame.
  • Uber between the Jewish community and CAK is about $45.
  • CAK parking is $7/day for long-term and $15-$18/day for short-term.
  • PIT is ~100 minutes from the Jewish community. It offers nonstop service to London, Montreal, and more.

Hotels:
  • There is a Hyatt Place in Legacy Village within walking distance of the Jewish community, though it's located just outside of the Eruv. It costs only 8K points/night.
  • There is a nice Hyatt Regency downtown for 12K points/night (25 minutes drive) in a unique vintage arcade building and an excellent spa that gives hotel guests 25% off and accepts SpaFinder certs from Costco that can be purchased for an additional 20% off.
  • The nicest hotel in Cleveland is like the Ritz-Carlton downtown. Marriott's Metropolitan at The 9 is also highly regarded, with a bar in an old vault. There is also a Hilton, Westin, and Kimpton downtown.

Transportation:
  • There is a subway/light rail connecting the airport with downtown, University Circle (where the Case campus and many museums are) and the Jewish community area, but renting a car is pretty much required unless you are just going between the airport and downtown.

By the way, to answer the question from the title of your post-I do not plan on being in Cleveland when you're here.

Need to know anything else? Kosher restaurants/Bakery info?

Just to note, Cleveland Heights is about 8-10 minutes further from Independence than Beachwood is.

But it's worth it just to pick up a Cinnamon Donut from Unger's in Cleveland Heights.

Ok I just checked BB and saw that PL has the area as Independence-Beachwood. Why is beyond me since there are numerous Hotels all over the I-271 by Beachwood and numerous Hotels over in Independence by the I-71

I never would have put these 2 together even thou they really arent far apart

I-71N to I-480W to I-271N local lanes, take exit 32, make a right to go west on Cedar road.  Make a right on Taylor road and the CH jewish life (Kineret Pizza, Ungers grocery and bakery, shuls etc.) is pretty much all on Taylor.
Figure on 25-30 mins to CH.

For the Beachwood institutions just go the same way but from Cedar make a left on Green road (about 2.5 miles before Taylor)

that Right off of Exit 32 is what I called the upside down U a few posts ago CD you have to be careful when exiting as there I believe 3 different roads you can go down and its awkward exiting ahighway and in order to cross over it go backwards (although its not really that)

I Blew it the 1st time as I was in the Left lane too late cause you see the overpass ahead of you and figure the directions are wrong. Nope I was! That overpass was adiffernt road and Cedar is behind you as you go under it before exiting

Yet to go from Beachwood to the I-90 towards TOL MQ had me driving local streets and thru Shaker Heights(nice neighborhood). the next time I simply went with the hways  abit longer but alot easier less turns and having to read all the street signs

well if that doesnt work theres the Football Hall of Fame a few miles down the I-71S in Caton, other then those 2 there are some Estates in the Akron area, dont know if there are open this time of yr, check the Where mag or the flyers that most Hotels have. Remember CLE gets alot of Lake affect so it can and will be windy, or cold, or snowing, which leaves out most outdoor activities except for ice skating

I looked online and all I see is the rock and roll hall of fame!
-Football HOF if you're a sports fan.
-The Cavs are playing the Nets on the 15th.  If you go be sure to catch the pre-game pyrotechnics show!  Tons of fun and excitement at Cavs home games and a great chance to see Shaq and Lebron!
-Free Outdoor Ice Skating.

What other kind of stuff do you usually do?  There's plenty of comedy shows and a $1 movie theater and tons of other stuff.  Plenty of incredible shopping nearby.

Eateries:
The Bagel Shoppe makes excellent bagels, good enough to rival any NY place.  The garlic bagels are yum!  Bakery stuff is usually pretty good too. They close at 2pm.

Pizza: Kinneret is usually very good, Issi's is usually not.

Meat: Contempo Cuisine is the fanciest restaurant and is great.  Excellent Steaks ($30), very good soups ($5), appetizers (10) , and desserts ($6).  Try the whiskey peppercorn and ask them to add sauteed mushrooms and onions on top.  The entrees also comes with a salad, garlic mashed potatoes, and some grilled veggies included in the price.

Subway is good and cheap, Jerusalem Grill is OK for Israeli food.

Bakeries: Ungers has some great stuff like donuts and pecan rolls. Lax And Mandel is gross.

Chocolate Emporium has cholov yisroel ice cream and parve homemade chocolate goodies.

If you dont keep cholov yisroel they say not to miss the kosher Amy Joy Donuts and Cold Stone Creamery.
