Can anyone suggest a good meat-restaurant in Cleveland

I can suggest one but it will be 9000 avios r/t.. which isn't all too bad. People have done it before

I think Ungers donuts are the only kosher item in Cleveland anyone ever called good.

The best meat entrees in Cleveland right now are probably in the refrigerator of Heinen's.

Seriously though kosher food to try in Cleveland is:

Unger's Cinnamon, custard, miami, and glaze donuts.

Tibor's Beef Jerky, spicy salami.

Shannon Road Ice cream, peanut butter cup, cookie dough, snikerdoodle, and toffee bar.

Bagel Shoppe, Jalapeno bagel with cream cheese and garlic crunch. Garlic bagel with cheese omelet and hash browns.

Contempo Fudge brownie's sold at Heinen's. (Many of their other foods are the best meat dishes you'll find in Cle. Their soups are the best in town as well.)

Sweet cakes by Mimi cake pops.

(I've never been to the new place downtown so can't comment on it.)

If you have to eat at other places here are some recommendations.

Subway: Nothing really worth going for. The meatball sub, and teriyaki chicken are OK. Italian herb bread is a must. Some of the cookies are good.

Issi's: Falafel pizza well done with extra sauce. Be sure all their pies are well done with extra sauce. Some salads are good. Chili fries, and eggplant wrap are good as well.

Jerusalem grill: Falafel is good. Chinese food is entirely mediocre, but palatable if you are in the mood of Chinese. I like the Crispy Chicken sandwich.

Kinneret: The pizza is usually better than Issis. You should try the fried Cauliflower for something different. Eggplant parm is pretty good.

Sababa: Very hit or miss. Chicken tenders are good with their 3 dips, and the schnitzel sandwich.

Ellie's Waffles: Waffles need to be cooked longer than they normally do, flavors are usually some canned something. Get what you are in the mood of. Has such potential but they don't execute it well. Soups are usually pretty good.

Lax and Mandel: Bagels are ok, skip anything else.

Boris: He has some nice sausages for sale he makes, and beef jerky type stuff as well.

Do you know of anybody - in Cleveland or elsewhere - who has a serious interest in becoming a professional cook/chef, or maybe a family you know outside of Cleveland with a post-high school child who has that interest and desire to have a career in this field? Or someone looking to make a career change. Age is not a factor, although maturity definitely does matter!

I'm looking to pay-it-forward, so to speak, and be a mentor to someone with the energy and passion to work hard, learn and be serious about reaching their potential.

Abby's soup & salad review:
It's located in the Huntington bank building (not Key bank building, the other tall building; catty-corner to tower city/horseshoe casino). There are no seats in the restaurant but it's located right next to the fountains which have plenty of tables/seating and makes for a pretty nice ambience.

Pricing was very reasonable (a full meal for 2 adults was ~ $20). The soups seem to be available on a rotating basis. The tomato & rice soup was delicious and piping hot. We passed on the salads (but the salad bar looked nice ad fresh). We ordered wraps (there are only 2 options and they tasted nearly identical), they are kept in the fridge. Due to the fridge they are served cold, and would have been significantly better if they were warmed up. I did not ask, but had heard previously that they do not currently have a microwave/ warming option available (I used the soup as a sauce/warmer). I would not order the wrap again without it being served warm. The quiche was also served cold and had very little flavor. Chocolate chip muffin was fresh and delicious!

Service was friendly and nice (we had a really hard time finding it at first, and they offered an unsolicited 10% off for the inconvenience!)

Would definitely go again if we were in the area (or planned as part of a day trip to museum/lake/downtown).

i just bought the grilled vegetable wrap today in tibors was pretty good warmed up in micorwave. would hope she is going to expand her menu at her location, and serve them fresh there.

Looking for a dirt-cheap car rental in Cleveland for about a week, starting tomorrow. Are there any locations (say, local neighborhood branch as opposed to Hopkins) that are known to be cheaper than others? I'm specifically posting here and not in the generic car rental thread because I'm looking for "inside info from the locals".

So far I've been quoted approximately $130 at CLE airport. Would I do better at a local branch, or with some corp code that is known to work better in Cleveland specifically, or whatever?

was there today just to clarify this not a restaurant it is more like a soup and salad stand with a few other small items. I had a salad which was very good. I liked the different options such as marinated portebello mushrooms, grilled peppers, grilled eggplant. dressings were also good. i picked up tuna wrap for my wife she said it was good. I asked abby why she doesnt have option to heat up food. she said she not into microwave. And any oven would have to be commercial grade and she doesnt have room. She targeting people who work in the area and will take food back to office. Hope she is successful. Its definitely convenient for someone who works downtown or has to go for meeting to grab quick kosher bite.

Just silly not to even offer it... She may not like it but others do.
