    An uber from Brookpark station to CLE is about $10.

  • The nicest hotel in Cleveland is like the Ritz-Carlton downtown. Marriott's Metropolitan at The 9 is also highly regarded, with a bar in an old vault. There is also a Hilton, Westin, and Kimpton downtown.

Transportation:
  • There is a subway/light rail connecting the airport with downtown, University Circle (where the Case campus and many museums are) and the Jewish community area, but renting a car is pretty much required unless you are just going between the airport and downtown.

A hearty thank you to Dan & Co. for the amazing hospitality.
A real home away from home. I'm sure ill be back. ;)
Off to get some of those must have bagels and doughnuts and then we're off to Mequon WI, some 461 mile drive...
Wish us luck to get there for shabbos, they bring in shabbos at 6:30 ???
Glad to have ya' Aussie!  With the amount of Tradition soups in your trunk, I sure hope you enjoyed the homecooked meal!

Good luck breaking through traffic driving through Chicago though...

Hows this for bad timing, no specialty bagels on Friday :(
Wow, who knew!  :(
But the doughnuts were bloody good so it kinda makes up for it.
Now I think I need to head to Unger's myself  8)

Just went to a new pizza shop today which inspired me to update this post.

City guide:
BE=Beachwood
UH=University Heights
SE=South Euclid
CH=Cleveland Heights
CL=Cleveland

Hours listed are for weekdays.  Weekend hours will vary.

-The Bagel Shoppe (UH, 4/5 DD stars) closes at 2pm.
Don't miss the excellent Jalapano or Garlic Bagels ($0.95)  Excellent Challah.

-Kinneret Pizza (CH, 4/5 DD stars) closes at 7pm.
Delicious plain pizza ($2.25/slice, $16.50/pie)  Avoid the toppings.  Very good homemade onion rings ($2.75) and cauliflower ($3.25).  Good spicy fries ($1.90) and Eggplant Parmesan ($6.50).  Soft serve Ice Cream with 8 flavor choices ($2.25).  There is a salad bar and a lot of other choices on the menu.

-Issi's Pizza (SE, 1.5/5 DD stars) closes at 8pm.
The pizza ($16/pie) is made in a conveyor belt oven that is just not to most people's liking.

-Top It Off Pizza (UH, 3.5/5 DD stars) closes at 8pm.
This place just opened up this week.  They only offer pick-up at the current time.  No eating place or delivery.
Their Pizza comes in a 8" personal pie size ($5) or 16" family pie ($14).  Pizza seems to be very good and they have tons of great topping options that are affordable as well!
Not much else in the way of side dishes and the fries seemed very overpriced.

-Contempo Cuisine Steakhouse (UH, 4/5 DD stars) has last seating at 8pm.
Upscale steakhouse.  Don't miss the great soups ($5) and definitely don't miss the Whiskey Peppercorn steak or the Monte Carlo Steak ($34, including salad, mashed potatoes, and vegetables)

-Jerusalem Grill (SE, Chinese Menu 4/5 DD stars, Regular Menu 2/5 DD stars), closes at 9pm.
Sweet and Sour, Sesame, and Lemon chicken ($14) are all excellent.  Not much else on the menu is worth trying besides perhaps for the shnitzel.

Sababa (SE, 1.5/5 DD stars), closes at 9pm
Went here the week they opened earlier this year and had the worst burger ($8) and service ever.  Wouldn't go back.

Subway (BE, 3/5 DD stars) close at 9pm
Typical Subway with parve cheese available.
I'm partial to the pepper steak ($13) or meatballs ($9) on the Italian herb bread with sweet onion sauce.  Be brave and try it with the cheese!

-The glatt kosher hot dog stand ($5) at Progressive Field is open during Indians games (CL, 7pm-10pm weeknights).

-Lax & Mandel Bakery (SE, 0 Stars) closes at 7pm.
In all fairness they are under new ownership, but this place was so bad under the previous owners that I haven't been able to bring myself to go back in.

-Ungers Bakery & Kosher Market (CH, Donuts: 4.5/5 DD stars, other bakery goods: 2/5 DD stars) closes at 8pm, but often may let you in later as they have bakers there all night long.
My favorite is the yummyy cinnamon donut, but others will heatedly tell you that their preference is the Custard, Miami, Glaze, or Maple as well!

-Tibor's (BE) has a deli with lots of prepared food and good spicy homemade salami.  They also carry bakery goods from Ungers and from Word of Mouth which are excellent. They close at 7pm.

-Shimon's Deli (CH) also carries some prepared foods and closes at 6pm.

Later than that, there's also Chocolate Emporium & Ice Cream Parlor (BE, Cholov Yisroel and Cholov Stam available.  Don't miss their chocolate creations like the dark chocolate cappuccino truffle or raspberry truffle or their chocolate popcorn, etc, etc.), Amy Joy Donuts (SE, Cholov Stam), Coldstone Creamery (UH, Cholov Stam), and Mitchell's Ice Cream (BE, Cholov Stam)

Does not really matter where I'm driving thru on my way east.
I don't need to eat breakfast there, it is really two questions. Where can I find a Minyan, I am now thinking closer to 8. And, where can I buy something for breakfast.

Breakfast:
-Pick up a Jalapeno or a Garlic Bagel from The Bagel Shoppe in University Heights.  They are both excellent.  There is place to sit down or you can get stuff to go.  Plain bagels are roughly .95 each, 6 for $5.49, or a dozen for $10.
-Pick up a Cinnamon or Custard (or any other flavor) donut from Ungers in Cleveland Heights.  They're .95-$1.25 each and shouldn't be missed IMO.

If you're around a little later there's a new take-out only pizza place called "Top It Off Pizza" which is very good as well.

I just know the Chabad scene, of which there is an 8am in Cleveland Heights and a 7 and 8am in Beachwood.

How's the snow back home?

I went to Khal Yereim as I saw on GOdaven that they had a 8:15 minyan, arrived on the dot, but it seems like its more of an 8:30 minyan (borchu is at 8:45). Unger's is one short block away I bought one blueberry (and cinnamon), one apple (and cinnamon), one pecan cinnamon glazed danish and a chocolate danish all were very good (you'll ave to trust my wife on the last two) althiugh I liked the blueberry more than the apple as I've tasted better apple fillings.
Thanks aaa and Dan for your help.

Funny, I don't think I've ever tried any of those danishes.
They're more famous for their donuts.

You can tell when a mod has merged threads when a post has a different title then the thread's title...hopefully the poster will read through the thread now and see if he has more questions.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Thank you all for reffering me to this thread. Here's a few remaining Ctown specific questions and then I'll look more into Chicago before asking about there:

Does anyone know where I can get discount to attractions such as the Rock and Roll HOF?

Did anyone go to Canton from Clevland- wondering how cool it is for a medium sized football fan and how long is drive?

Dan, are those doughnut and ice cream places still open (i couldnt get on amy joy website) and how late....we're thinking of going to this waterpark that closes at 8 and I think its an hour out of clevland?

thank you

Entertainment probably has discounts for the Rock HOF and NFL HOF.
Rock hall is 30 minutes west of Beachwood, the NFL HOF is about 50 minutes south of Beachwood
If you're a fan or Rock or Football I'm sure you'll love 'em.  Otherwise probably not.

The Ice cream and doughnut places are all open.  Plus there are a couple chalav stam yogurt places (Yogurt Vi and Menchies) that have opened as well to much acclaim.  Never had the Amy Joy donuts, but Ungers Cinnamon and Custard donuts are both very good.

I know Geauga Lake has a nice water park where Sea World used to be that's 25 minutes east of Beachwood.  In Sandusky (~80 minutes west of Beachwood) is Cedar Point, with 17 amazing coasters that attracts people from around the world.  There's also Kalahari and Soak City water parks in Sandusky.
