Think of Moving?

Airports:
  • CLE is about 15 minutes from downtown and 25-30 minutes from the Jewish community.  It's a focus city for Frontier, Spirit, and United.
  • The RTA (Rapid transit train) at Brookpark station has free parking and is just 1 train stop (3 minutes) to the stop inside the airport. The train costs $2.50 and the schedule is here: http://www.riderta.com/routes/redline/schedules/current#WestboundWeekday
An uber from Brookpark station to CLE is about $10.
  • Uber between the Jewish community and CLE is about $30.
  • CLE off-site parking is about $9/day, on-site parking is $17-$22/day, and curbside valet parking is $35/day.
  • CAK is ~40 minutes from the Jewish community and located nearby the NFL Hall of Fame.
  • Uber between the Jewish community and CAK is about $45.
  • CAK parking is $7/day for long-term and $15-$18/day for short-term.
  • PIT is ~100 minutes from the Jewish community. It offers nonstop service to London, Montreal, and more.

Hotels:
  • There is a Hyatt Place in Legacy Village within walking distance of the Jewish community, though it's located just outside of the Eruv. It costs only 8K points/night.
  • There is a nice Hyatt Regency downtown for 12K points/night (25 minutes drive) in a unique vintage arcade building and an excellent spa that gives hotel guests 25% off and accepts SpaFinder certs from Costco that can be purchased for an additional 20% off.
  • The nicest hotel in Cleveland is like the Ritz-Carlton downtown. Marriott's Metropolitan at The 9 is also highly regarded, with a bar in an old vault. There is also a Hilton, Westin, and Kimpton downtown.

Transportation:
  • There is a subway/light rail connecting the airport with downtown, University Circle (where the Case campus and many museums are) and the Jewish community area, but renting a car is pretty much required unless you are just going between the airport and downtown.

NBA is a 12 month sport. Free Agency is more interesting than the games. There is so much drama and every day there is another rumor/ story.

There is so much action and when you go to a game you feel like you are part of it.
Major drama every year, will the finals go to GSW in 4 or GSW in 5?
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

This year has intrigue with Durant out.

Did you think the same thing about MLB from 1998-2001?

I'll sum up the NBA for you: Golden State.

I don't even follow basketball, and I know it.

I can tell all of you don’t follow basketball. When Lebron was in Cleveland you guys were all in now that he left you threw basketball in the garbage. Those last 2 years we knew GS was going to win but there is still a journey to get there. And you guys were still all in.

Even when my Nets were complete garbage I still followed them and stuck with them. I don’t just stay around for the good times which is what many here seem to do.

Lol I never followed basketball, and likely never will. Of the big 4, basketball was the only one I really never cared about. I've followed the cubs since I was 5 years old, so I know a thing or 2 about following a team going through a rough time, and I stuck with them. I've just been hearing many many people who are sick and tired of the NBA and its predictability.

Yeah the NFL is so unpredictable with the Pat's only going to 4 out of 5 superbowls.

After NBA, comes NFL on my list. Not a big NFL guy either. I'll watch or listen a bit if the bears are contenders, but I wouldn't call myself a fan. Although, I haven't heard anyone ranting about the NFL the way they do about the NBA.

When I last followed basketball seriously Patrick Ewing was still on the Knicks, so I might not be the one to talk, (I probably can't even name 10 active players) but I just find the game itself really boring. There are a few exciting plays, but otherwise basically nothing really counts until the last five minutes. Sure, baseball is much slower paced (FWIW I haven't followed in 5+ years) but there is a certain excitement in how each play matters, how any one play could be the one that wins or loses the game. There's no running out the clock in baseball, you need to get 27 outs.

Looking for CLE parking advice. Will be traveling with the family, driving in to CLE from PA the night before a 7am flight. Right now, I'm assuming staying at the airport sheraton makes the most sense considering the early morning departure, but what are the best parking options if we'll be away for 18 nights?  Airport parking seems pretty pricey. Are there other hotels/parking lots I should consider that are convenient and/or better deals?

Thanks!

Hyatt Place Independence has an airport shuttle and free parking. I'm sure there are closer options as well, but not sure offhand which ones.
Call and let us know :)

Thanks everybody for the responses. Just for other people's future info, the cheapest hotel 'park and fly' option I seem to have found is the Best Western Inn & Suites at 16501 Snow Rd, just off the airport property. They quoted me $7/day or $35/week to leave a car there. So while it's not the nicest hotel in the area, it did get decent reviews online after some recent renovations and 'suites' can be had for around $110 or 7k UR per night.

The Hampton Inn North Olmsted seemed to be a decent option as well, as they quoted me $139 for the night, and that included up to 14 nights of parking, but it had to be booked over the phone, not with points.

Aloft Cleveland Airport also seemed decent, at around $107 per night for a room and then a flat $50 for 7 nights of parking. After 7 nights was $10/night per additional night.

Hampton and Aloft were a little further away from the airport, so we're going to try the Best Western. $70 for two weeks of parking is hard to beat!
