Think of Moving?

Airports:
  • CLE is about 15 minutes from downtown and 25-30 minutes from the Jewish community.  It's a focus city for Frontier, Spirit, and United.
  • The RTA (Rapid transit train) at Brookpark station has free parking and is just 1 train stop (3 minutes) to the stop inside the airport. The train costs $2.50 and the schedule is here: http://www.riderta.com/routes/redline/schedules/current#WestboundWeekday
An uber from Brookpark station to CLE is about $10.
  • Uber between the Jewish community and CLE is about $30.
  • CLE off-site parking is about $9/day, on-site parking is $17-$22/day, and curbside valet parking is $35/day.

  • The nicest hotel in Cleveland is like the Ritz-Carlton downtown. Marriott's Metropolitan at The 9 is also highly regarded, with a bar in an old vault. There is also a Hilton, Westin, and Kimpton downtown.

Transportation:
  • There is a subway/light rail connecting the airport with downtown, University Circle (where the Case campus and many museums are) and the Jewish community area, but renting a car is pretty much required unless you are just going between the airport and downtown.

Thought I would take advantage of that Cleveland generousity again....
I have, thank god, been accepted to the program I interviewed at last week in Case Western! It seems like we are going to be moving to Cleveland... Any recommendations on renting or buying in the University Heights/Beachwood area? The program is two years long and I don't know if we are going to be staying after. Any good realtor recommendations? Thanks so much everyone!

You're in a tough spot then.  You'll feel crowded in any apartment, I don't think it makes economic sense to buy a house if you only think you'll be living here for 2 years, and house rentals are overpriced and hard to come by.

Maybe look into the 3 bedroom apartments from huntington green?  Definitely check out zillow.com as well.

True true.  Just hurts to rent at twice the cost of owning.

Don't leave Cleveland without a Cinnamon donut and a Custard donut  :)
Heeded.
Cinnamon was like biting into oil, not my cup of tea.
Custard was simply put ..amazing!

If there's anyone driving from Cleveland to NYC sometime this Chanuka, and willing to bring a few small boxes (or even just one box) of Ungar's scrumptious chocolate custard doughnuts, please let me know :)

The doughnuts with no filling (with the hole in the middle) are a thumbs down if you ask me.
The custard was one of the best I've ever tasted!

On another note Re. Ungar's, was very frustrating and sadening to see the prices you have to deal with vis-a-vis Kosher (Bishul Yisroel, Cholov Yisroel.. לאפוקי Costco) food.  I'd have thought that an area with a frum community that large, and that close to NYC, it would be different..

Huh? The cinnamon donut doesn't have a hole.
Unger's has long had the monopoly on the local kosher market, though that is changing rapidly with Costco carrying tons of kosher products at a fraction of their prices and several local grocery stores vastly growing their kosher sections as well.
