Think of Moving?

Airports:
  • CLE is about 15 minutes from downtown and 25-30 minutes from the Jewish community.  It's a focus city for Frontier, Spirit, and United.
  • The RTA (Rapid transit train) at Brookpark station has free parking and is just 1 train stop (3 minutes) to the stop inside the airport. The train costs $2.50 and the schedule is here: http://www.riderta.com/routes/redline/schedules/current#WestboundWeekday
An uber from Brookpark station to CLE is about $10.
  • Uber between the Jewish community and CLE is about $30.
  • CLE off-site parking is about $9/day, on-site parking is $17-$22/day, and curbside valet parking is $35/day.
  • CAK is ~40 minutes from the Jewish community and located nearby the NFL Hall of Fame.
  • Uber between the Jewish community and CAK is about $45.
  • CAK parking is $7/day for long-term and $15-$18/day for short-term.
  • PIT is ~100 minutes from the Jewish community. It offers nonstop service to London, Montreal, and more.

Hotels:
  • There is a Hyatt Place in Legacy Village within walking distance of the Jewish community, though it's located just outside of the Eruv. It costs only 8K points/night.
  • There is a nice Hyatt Regency downtown for 12K points/night (25 minutes drive) in a unique vintage arcade building and an excellent spa that gives hotel guests 25% off and accepts SpaFinder certs from Costco that can be purchased for an additional 20% off.
  • The nicest hotel in Cleveland is like the Ritz-Carlton downtown. Marriott's Metropolitan at The 9 is also highly regarded, with a bar in an old vault. There is also a Hilton, Westin, and Kimpton downtown.

Transportation:
  • There is a subway/light rail connecting the airport with downtown, University Circle (where the Case campus and many museums are) and the Jewish community area, but renting a car is pretty much required unless you are just going between the airport and downtown.

Just went to Chef Daves.  For starters we had the portobello fries, brisket in puffed pastry, and smoked duck leg. The fries were really good, the brisket had mixed reviews, and the duck was barely average. For the entree we had the steak, chicken milanese, and the duck breast. The streak IMO was phenomenal, ordered it medium rare and it was perfect. The duck again was average and the chicken milanese was good as well. For dessert we ordered the chocolate mousse, the warm apple cobbler, and the watermelon vodka ices with brownie. All average. All in all we had a great time and enjoyed the feel of going to a restaurant in Cleveland!

Hi Dan, we have a 4.5 hour layaway in Cleveland. We arrive at Cleveland airport at 2PM and our flight out is at 6:30 PM.
Can you suggest where we go for the few hours we have, how to get there, and be back at the airport for our flight on time?

Thanks so much!

You should probably get your picture taken in front of Dan's house. Check out the school he grew up in and maybe even get an autograph.

Seriously why say hi Dan if it's a question to all people from Cleveland or in Cleveland?
/rant

It's not very much time kosher food is about 30-40 minutes away so you can pickup food and that's about it. Just choose pizza, sushi, Chinese, Israeli etc. Also you can get donuts from Unger's.

If anyone has a mikva directory they can look in the front and it has a list of all minyanim times.

Didn't see post until now, but for future reference, R Denzinger's shul and Shomer Shabbos have official 9:00 am minyanim Bein Hazmanim... I'd assume that the ppl that go to these minyanim decide the days before the Zman starts as to how long they continue minyan based on interest (best bet is prob to drive by and see if there are cars). Then there's reliable Khal Yereyim which is where everyone goes when they're late. They have latest unofficial minyanim (and their 8:05 minyan usually finishes well past 9). Also, there are usually a whole bunch of stragglers there it just depends if there is a gatherer/Chazan/unlazy guy to make a minyan out of it... I once made a minyan there after 12 although there were prob under 6 mispalelim.

If anyone has a mikva directory they can look in the front and it has a list of all minyanim times.

None of these options would be in the now ancient Mikva Directory as they are all unofficial.

After asking around it appears that this story is a hoax.

You mean they don't reissue the Mikva Book every year or two, like the Lakewood Directory?

They used to, but the last one was two and a half years ago... Plus, I don't think they would list unofficial Minyanim and the Bein Hazmanim ones... It is a good idea to put it in (assuming they're coming out with a new one eventually) and I can try to put in a word with the higher ups...
