Think of Moving?

Airports:
  • CLE is about 15 minutes from downtown and 25-30 minutes from the Jewish community.  It's a focus city for Frontier, Spirit, and United.
  • The RTA (Rapid transit train) at Brookpark station has free parking and is just 1 train stop (3 minutes) to the stop inside the airport. The train costs $2.50 and the schedule is here: http://www.riderta.com/routes/redline/schedules/current#WestboundWeekday
An uber from Brookpark station to CLE is about $10.
  • Uber between the Jewish community and CLE is about $30.
  • CLE off-site parking is about $9/day, on-site parking is $17-$22/day, and curbside valet parking is $35/day.
  • CAK is ~40 minutes from the Jewish community and located nearby the NFL Hall of Fame.
  • Uber between the Jewish community and CAK is about $45.
  • CAK parking is $7/day for long-term and $15-$18/day for short-term.

Hotels:
  • There is a Hyatt Place in Legacy Village within walking distance of the Jewish community, though it's located just outside of the Eruv. It costs only 8K points/night.
  • There is a nice Hyatt Regency downtown for 12K points/night (25 minutes drive) in a unique vintage arcade building and an excellent spa that gives hotel guests 25% off and accepts SpaFinder certs from Costco that can be purchased for an additional 20% off.
  • The nicest hotel in Cleveland is like the Ritz-Carlton downtown. Marriott's Metropolitan at The 9 is also highly regarded, with a bar in an old vault. There is also a Hilton, Westin, and Kimpton downtown.

Transportation:
  • There is a subway/light rail connecting the airport with downtown, University Circle (where the Case campus and many museums are) and the Jewish community area, but renting a car is pretty much required unless you are just going between the airport and downtown.

CLE sucks. Came to gate exactly 30 min before departure. They didn't check us in. Getting us for tomorrow ... Saying that we had to be checked in 30 min prior, not just at desk

how is that possible?
I just saw this story about CLE posted today on the Delta glitch page (maybe they didn't have check-in?):

My parents had glitch tickets to LA and were no going to go. My father woke up yesterday looked out the window and said "WTH" no way I'm passing up LA for 8 inches of snow!
I dropped them off at CLE at 10:50 their plane left at 11:06 they were in their seats by 10:58.

Yup! They didn't have luggage and they checked in via mobile app on the way. At least no one is comparing CLE to a third world country!

Who said he's flying Delta? Different airlines are stricter. I imagine UA employees at CLE are acting particularly mean when they know they will be losing their jobs soon.

it is Delta. I posted also in the delta thread after they mentioned that they shouldn't do any changes for me due to the fact I got glitch tickets.
Please advise is it airline policy to be checked in or being at the ticket counter enough?
(Wasn't checking any luggage)

it is checked in. You can stand at the counter until after the flight. Who cares if you are at the counter. Rude on their part but thats the rules

+1
Yes, those are the rules, but it's not right that at the exact airport at the exact airline,
this other delta "glitchee" couple got to arrive at CLE at 10:50 and plane depart at 11:06!!??!??
(takes me that long just to "opt out" of the 'radiation scanners' and get the whole 2-TSA-member private room pat-down procedure with blue glove explosives testing...)

They took advantage of that policy since it was over booked flight (we got message when trying to check in about a bid, since we had 2 separate bookings I decided to find out more about the bum page and maybe be put on a direct flight).
After talking a few min they tried checking us in 27 min before flight and it was locked. They are refusing over and over to put us on different airline.
Even though we are with child we decided instead of going tom from cle and missing a whole day we are on flight to Atlanta and on standby on a full flight from there to phl. There were only a few first class seats so they couldn't confirm any seats for us from Atlanta. Any advice about Atlanta (also advise about jewish community there if your familiar - there's no thread for them..)
Thanx. Also JJ I didn't see yourself or dan in shul..
