Think of Moving?

Airports:
  • CLE is about 15 minutes from downtown and 25-30 minutes from the Jewish community.  It's a focus city for Frontier, Spirit, and United.
  • The RTA (Rapid transit train) at Brookpark station has free parking and is just 1 train stop (3 minutes) to the stop inside the airport. The train costs $2.50 and the schedule is here: http://www.riderta.com/routes/redline/schedules/current#WestboundWeekday
An uber from Brookpark station to CLE is about $10.
  • Uber between the Jewish community and CLE is about $30.
  • CLE off-site parking is about $9/day, on-site parking is $17-$22/day, and curbside valet parking is $35/day.

  • The nicest hotel in Cleveland is like the Ritz-Carlton downtown. Marriott's Metropolitan at The 9 is also highly regarded, with a bar in an old vault. There is also a Hilton, Westin, and Kimpton downtown.

Transportation:
  • There is a subway/light rail connecting the airport with downtown, University Circle (where the Case campus and many museums are) and the Jewish community area, but renting a car is pretty much required unless you are just going between the airport and downtown.

No not at all. I just recently had this conversation in Cleveland with my inlaws (yup they are in Cleveland).
If opening a nice (pricy) restaurant with good food and ambiance, would be a good idea.
I was told and (see it somewhat) that people would not patronage.

Ah, so you also married a Clevelander, too. In that case, I feel your pain. :P

Like I always say, it's a nice place, but they roll up the streets at 7 PM and put them away until morning - or at least they should, since no one's really using them anyway after that hour.

They're dead wrong.
There's a very rapidly growing young community. Many of who are affluent professionals who crave a fine dining experience.

And no, contempo was not fine dining.  Before it died it was a cafeteria serving $40 burnt steaks with a side of flies.

In another aspect of that line, I'v got to give them credit the way the streets (and sidewalks) are plowed. As opposed to lkwd where my development will probably go through this whole Shabbos till it sees a plow.

Then we got a good business opportunity for someone...

but..
Smart people can make better money in other industries.
That leaves the restaurants in the hands of utter morons.

Food industry requires long hours.  Most smart people can make money elsewhere.

But yes, for someone who loves that industry there is a massive opportunity here.

It's one thing to not use tablecloths when you have a nice table.  But when you have cafeteria style tables and you're charging $40/plate??

You're preaching to the choir, son.

I'm going out to Haburganim soon here in J'lem. I never ate at Contempo (thank G-d), but I'd bet a $100 UA gift certificate that you (or anyone) would be more impressed with them (a fast food place) than you ever were with Contempo. Cuz frankly, it doesn't take much.

I think Mayfield and Green. I know there's one in Wickliff.
Only good thing in Heinens is the Montana Sapphire Flour (its great for challah). Anyone offering to bring us back any?
