Think of Moving?

Airports:
  • CLE is about 15 minutes from downtown and 25-30 minutes from the Jewish community.  It's a focus city for Frontier, Spirit, and United.
  • The RTA (Rapid transit train) at Brookpark station has free parking and is just 1 train stop (3 minutes) to the stop inside the airport. The train costs $2.50 and the schedule is here: http://www.riderta.com/routes/redline/schedules/current#WestboundWeekday
An uber from Brookpark station to CLE is about $10.
  • Uber between the Jewish community and CLE is about $30.
  • CLE off-site parking is about $9/day, on-site parking is $17-$22/day, and curbside valet parking is $35/day.
  • CAK is ~40 minutes from the Jewish community and located nearby the NFL Hall of Fame.
  • Uber between the Jewish community and CAK is about $45.

  • The nicest hotel in Cleveland is like the Ritz-Carlton downtown. Marriott's Metropolitan at The 9 is also highly regarded, with a bar in an old vault. There is also a Hilton, Westin, and Kimpton downtown.

Transportation:
  • There is a subway/light rail connecting the airport with downtown, University Circle (where the Case campus and many museums are) and the Jewish community area, but renting a car is pretty much required unless you are just going between the airport and downtown.

Where is marcs? When we go to cleveland we stay in university hights and every time we go to hienens and we pay crazy amounts of cash for nothing
Heinens is a rip, but there kosher section is convenient. More expensive than ungers though at least you know the stuff is fresh.
Marcs is ridiculously cheap, but definitely no frills shopping.

Great back and forth! From people very in the know there are other issues besides just competency with opening a food establishment here. Dumb politics but politics nonetheless. BTW Sababa's is for sale and has been for some time if anyone is interested.

You would have to be nuts to buy Sababa.  Who would want to be associated with that?
What are the politics?

Some of the older food related businesses (not eateries), do not take kindly to someone trying to come into their turf. Regarding Sababa, the price he is asking is resonable enough for someone to buy it and completely revamp the place. Make a good fast food place. I think it could make money.

No windows, no cell service, poor reputation, horrible parking (for CLE anyways).
I'd stay far away.

A place like Milt's or ABC would just kill it here.

I dunno, I've never been too impressed with any fleishig place in Israel either :P

You totally missed my point. I'm not talking about fine dining; I'm saying that even a fast food/burger joint here is more impressive than Cleveland's former "fine dining" champ. :P

Everyone told me I had to go to Sheyan but I don't think it's anything that is worth bragging about.  Unless I should start bragging about J Grill or Sababa.

Make me a list of where I need to go in Israel and when the Waldorf opens I'll have to plan a trip.

Not a whole lot of those, actually. :P Good food, but probably won't hold a candle to Shallots or Milt's.

FTR, a DDFer has been inside the Waldorf already (I'll let him identify himself if he wants). He was at the "launch party" for travel professionals, after which a relative of his (who is pretty high up on the food chain) gave him the master key to the hotel, and let him explore it to his heart's content. :D
