Think of Moving?

Airports:
  • CLE is about 15 minutes from downtown and 25-30 minutes from the Jewish community.  It's a focus city for Frontier, Spirit, and United.
  • The RTA (Rapid transit train) at Brookpark station has free parking and is just 1 train stop (3 minutes) to the stop inside the airport. The train costs $2.50 and the schedule is here: http://www.riderta.com/routes/redline/schedules/current#WestboundWeekday
An uber from Brookpark station to CLE is about $10.
  • Uber between the Jewish community and CLE is about $30.
  • CLE off-site parking is about $9/day, on-site parking is $17-$22/day, and curbside valet parking is $35/day.

  • The nicest hotel in Cleveland is like the Ritz-Carlton downtown. Marriott's Metropolitan at The 9 is also highly regarded, with a bar in an old vault. There is also a Hilton, Westin, and Kimpton downtown.

Transportation:
  • There is a subway/light rail connecting the airport with downtown, University Circle (where the Case campus and many museums are) and the Jewish community area, but renting a car is pretty much required unless you are just going between the airport and downtown.

1) PA turnpike (276) to Northeast Extension (476) to 80 (pretty much same timing, pretty much free, more places to stop, mostly seperate highways for East and West, can have construction in summer)
2) PA turnpike (276, 76) to Ohio Turnpike (76, 80) (officially faster by 10-20 min, costs more, better driving conditions in winter, not as much construction in summer, mostly one divided Highway)

That's basically the 2 ways, few different variants to get from Lakewood to the PA turnpike

It's still the 276 when it hits the NE Extension?

Actually starting next week an 100 mile stretch of 76 will be going up to 70 mph matching the speed limit on the Ohio Turnpike. But beware, it still won't be consistent with lower speeds posted at some curves.

Most of 76 from Akron till the 80 is 70mph. 80 is 65 most of the way, and goes down to 55-50 before NJ.
Then in Jersey goes back up to 65.

Drove it last night..

Didn't see one cop, but then again was pitch black.
Made the 450 mile trek in 6:15. Average of 72. With one stop to pee and gas..

So you prove my point. 80 is the better of the 2. Also going from Lakewood to Cleveland you do not go on that stretch of 76 (Akron) which you are referring to.

What do you call nice? Nice scenery? Fun? Excitement?

Just some places off the top of my head, check them out and see if they fit your needs and interest

These are all not far off the 80 in Pennsylvania

Penns Cave (between Lock Haven & Bellefonte)

Reptiland (Allenwood)

Fun Central (Clearfield)

Exit 284....?? I think that was it. In PA. Get off the highway, make a right, about half a mile on your left hand side is a nature park. Nice river to put your feet in, some trails to walk around in.

It's not half way but a nice stopping point.

Coming from Lakewood, the NE Extension hits the 80 at Exit 277, so you would have to go East for 7 miles to get to 284.

Did you perhaps mean Exit 274? That's the exit for Hickory Run State Park

Sorry
That's still good to know about for people coming from NY and some people don't mind going out of the way for a nice nature stop.
Thanks.

Not nearly halfway, but there is a cute free factory simulated tour at Hershey PA. Tour takes about 20 min, IIRC, goung on a little train ride through a 'factory' showing how chocolate is made. Even if you keep CY, there are some (non-hershey) dark chocolate (OU Pareve) for sale in the gift shop, as well as twizzlers.

Some more things to do between NY/NJ & CLE is:

BWP Bat Factory
PA I-80 Exit 86
Free factory tours

Little League Museum
PA I-80 Exit 210B
This is about 15-20 minutes off the exit, but may be of interest to some people.
