double stroller aa
« on: January 24, 2012, 01:38:05 AM »
I'm going to be flying aa with 2 kids (20 months and 3 months) and would like to take them in my city mini double stroller. The official weight of the stroller is 26 pounds and aa official policy is no more than 20 pounds. Does anybody have experience with this?

I doubt anyone will be weighing the stroller. I can't imagine a check in agent telling you to take your two kid out of the stroller just so they could enforce the 20lb rule. What are they going to do? Force you to check the stroller and carry your kids to the gate? All for six pounds?

Don't know about a double stroller, but they made my sister check in her Bugaboo and car seat at the ticket counter.

I flew to AA to LA a few month ago and I took my infant to the gate with the bugaboo. We had flown a few more times since than with different airlines and different strollers and never had an issue. I think that they're nicer to you when you fly with the little ones.

In Miami the mamzeres made me take out my sleeping 6 month old so they can weigh my single city mini.

On what basis?
The Bug without the seat/carseat should be under 20 pounds.

Except if you live in Miami and have about $700 worth of AA certs. Or you want to use BA miles.
But other wise you are spot on.  I try to stick to FLL if I can.

As an AA elite, checking in at the business class counter, the agent stated that I must check my Baby Jogger City Mini double stroller.  I asked for a supervisor and inquired whther he thought it was reasonable to demand that I carry an infant and a toddler through the entire JFK.  He responded that an employee was injured carrying a large stroller up the ramp to the plane and the new policy was put in to place for their safety.

Next time don't show the stroller to the ticket counter.  If you must show the baby take out the carseat attachment from the stroller if possible.

In our 16 flight segs with an infant so far we've had no problems though with the Bug Frog or UB Vista, B"AH.

Then they should update their policy

Did she have kids with her?
yup.  she was traveling with her 18 month old.

I guess b/c she had to check the seat with it.

This was in MIA,  btw.
