So if I have to end up using T-Mobile, does us mobile t-mobile towers work well (in the cat) in the tri state area? Specifically lakewood.

So US Mobile has 3 options. You can be on the Verizon, AT&T or T-Mobile towers. Because the phone officially doesn't support Verizon when you gave the phones IMEI to them they didn't allow you to do it. You can easily bypass that by giving them a different Verizon compatible phones IMEI. Though sometimes the system can be sophisticated enough to pick up your IMEI through the sim and they will shut you down. That is why I wanted to know if anyone actually had US Mobile Verizon working in the cat.

Being that they're out of business, I am guessing that they will eventually not be available ot buy so I would like to buy one.

Is there an option to buy one that is compatible with verizon towers such as us mobile verizon?

the software version that is on the phone when you buy it is quite problematic. But I'd assume that once a software version is released, it's still available after the company goes out of business,

I installed Android Auto today on my cat phone. I didn't get to try it out yet as I currently don't have access to a car but if anyone wants to try it, I downloaded the oldest version of Android Auto from apk mirror and it installed fine. The newer versions did not install.

I believe that android auto very often makes you update (like whenever there's one available), so I can't imagine it would work on the oldest version.

Yes, but it runs android go so certain features don't work like android auto.

that is called believing what Google wants you to believe. In reality I find it hard to believe that it cannot actually run such an app, it just may slow it down due to the low ram of the phone.

not directly related to the fact that it runs Android go, more to do with the fact that it is a budget phone, it does not have NFC components built in, nor does it have the compass hardware.

Recently a funny thing happens, when I open certain apps such as Instacart the screen starts slightly and lightly blinking/flashing and after a few seconds the phone will restart, this happens even with nearly full battery but doesn't happen while plugged in
