NY - stolen/lost license plate

Has anyone gone through this experience and can offer pointers? I read up about it and seems like needs to be taken care of asap at the dmv

Avoid the DMV. Go to one of the local places. You'll have it in 5 minutes

Start at the police station.  You'll need a report.
Then the DMV to replace them.
