Assad was at least cooperating with/turning a blind eye to Iran.
His regime was supported/propped up by Iran/Hizballah. Hizballah being weakened by by the recent fighting in Lebanon and the Israeli neutering of Irans capabilities likely contributed significantly to the rebel advances.
Depending on who exactly takes control in Syria could possibly lead to the Syrian route for Iranian supply to Lebanon being closed and the further weakening of the Iranian proxy ring of fire, or alternatively becoming a staging ground for increased threats to IL...
But if you still dont agree, I'll try to post further posts on the topic in the dedicated thread.

But for the Yad Hashem, ST could have been 1000 times worse.
If Hamas would have not gotten distracted by easy prey near the border, If they would have prioritized getting to taking as many IDF/IAF bases as possible, If Hizballah would have joined in with a ground invasion on ST...
And its not like the defenses in the golan/galil are great against a lightening advance via jeeps/light APCs, and now these rebels have the weapons of the Syrian Armed forces too. (IL is now scrambling to reinforce the troops guarding the border...)
