Didn’t read the article, but actually thought about this yesterday. You flood it slowly. And you hope everyone comes out when the water reaches their necks. Personally don’t like it though. It’s one thing to take a chance that Hamas kills the hostages. It’s another thing to shoot and then and hope Hamas will protect them.

Also the entrance you are flooding from might be the only exit.
This would be a good idea once Hamas is eliminated, and all hostages are accounted for.

Might be, but we’ve heard so much about how intricate this tunnel network is, hard to believe there’s no emergency exit.

Yes. And there’s endless water in the Mediterranean. Obviously you can’t pinpoint the exact depth the water will reach, so it’s risky, hence my apprehension. But I believe it’s possible. The beauty of water here is that current and gravity will propel it through any obstacles or booby traps. So assuming the tunnels are all connected, eventually they all fill up.

Reports from tunnel experts suggested this is something that's engineered into such tunnels.

I think it might be possible to flood some tunnels, but "just flood the tunnels" is super simplistic thinking. I did some back of the hand math and it comes out to many months of continuous pumping, not including seepage, to flood 300 miles of tunnel.
