The Government of Israel has unanimously approved that
every year on the 24th of Tishrei, a national day of remembrance will be observed to commemorate the disaster that befell the State of Israel on October 7 and the Iron Swords War.
And also that in the first year a one-time ceremony will also be held on the foreign date - October 7.
Remembrance Day will be celebrated every year in Tishrei in two state ceremonies: at 11:00 a.m. a ceremony in memory of the martyrs who fell in the war, and at 1:00 p.m. a ceremony in memory of the civilians murdered by hostilities.
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, in coordination with the Minister of Transportation and Road Safety, who is in charge of events for the 76th anniversary of the State of Israel, Brigadier General Miri Regev, the Ministry of Defense and the State Ceremonies and Events in the Prime Minister's Office set the annual state commemoration events to commemorate the Iron Swords War.
This year, due to the fact that the 24th of Tishrei falls on a Sabbath, the ceremonies will take place in the 24th of Tishrei on Sunday, and so it will be held every year when the date of the 24th of Tishrei falls on a Sabbath.
Also, beyond the National Day of Remembrance that will be held regularly every year on the Hebrew date, in the first year we will mark a one-time, state ceremony on October 7, 2024, the foreign date of the brutal terrorist attack, which was enshrined in the public consciousness in Israel and around the world. Every year after that, the 24th day of Tishrei will be observed as a national day of remembrance in the State of Israel to commemorate the disaster of October 7, 2023.
