It’s an open secret that Rafah and Gaza’s border with Egypt is a major smuggling route. Not sure what kind of smoking gun you’re implying that Israel would find that would embarrass the US.

That the US was aware and maybe complicit in the smuggling? I'm not implying that, but it seems almost as obvious that they have something to hide as it does that Israel has by not publishing civilian casualty numbers...

I’m not sure it’s in Israel’s best interests to upset things further with the Egyptians by embarrassing them. Most of the variables are unknown.

To me it seems more like the Biden admin wants the war to end for both geopolitical and domestic political reasons, that have nothing to to do with Rafah per se.
