I don't understand why they wouldn't put him on the Tuesday flight for the same price since they cancelled. I'm assuming their costs are more or less the same,  but I don't know anything about the business.

According to their terms, they are liable only for a refund if the flight is moved more than 24 hours - not a rebooking. Maybe you would expect it as a courtesy but they never took responsibility for it.
Re: Lalechet, anyone know what their allowances are for carry-ons (it is very vague in their terms), and what their story is regarding meals?

My parents got the email from AF as they were waiting to board Lalechet flight EA3527. They had been counting on the partial refund to help pay for the flight but AF insisted that the flight was not canceled yet so they had to wait.
