Seems like Aegean is back!

I’m on Elal’s JFK-TLV 11:50pm (LY8) tonight and flight was delayed to 2:10AM and was notified via emai/text 16 hours before. No biggie. But why does Elal officially cancel the flight and create a new flight # (1008)?? Never seen any other airline do this. It’s obviously stressful waking up to FlightAware “ FLIGHT CANCELLED” but more importantly it causes unnecessary confusion and hassle as we had to redo check-in and now original flight is showing back on-time on FlightAware. The whole thing is so ODD

EL AL themselves only write that it changed (They don't control what FlightAware sends), they probably do it so there won't be 2 flights with the same number on a given day

LOT airlines selling tickets in Jan to TLV...are they officially flying or just trying to get a free loan?

Does anyone know what the Emirates bag drop cutoff time is in Athens?
Also any DP of Aegean checking thru luggage from TLV with separate reservations?

Update: Chatted with them, they told me cutoff is 60 minutes before departure

The UK's FCDO has updated its travel advice to permit travel to Israel. I would assume that if this doesn't change the UK airlines will not push back their start dates further. In addition easyjet has adjusted the timings of its flights into TLV (currently scheduled for March 30th) possibly meaning they actually intend to fly then.

Aegean checked our bags thru to NY on Emirates 2 days ago on seprate tickets.

There’s no way to actually book TLV flights directly with them.
