So there really doesn't seem to be a machlokes in halacha at all....the disagreement boils down to whether you think this hishtadlus can help save lives or not.

More about how serious the concerns are taken and weighing it against the benefits, while also taking a deeper look at the ostensible benefits in light of the concerns.

Rabbi Moshe Hauer would make for a great speaker, and would probably agree to speak. I guess the offer wasn't made.

Note there is NO religious representation from reform or conservative either. That appears to be deliberate, and a smart move, imho.

My assumption is there will be tefillah and Torah from the frum singers.

As mentioned above, the frum organizations that are encouraging people to go are (for the most part) encouraging that on an individual basis without putting their organizational stamp on it, for all the reasons mentioned.

Here's the official program. I think they're delusional that they can pack in so much in so little time, and there's no way this is running on schedule or finishing on time.

It's also clear that this is a political event, not a religious one, and I think those who are expecting Torah content and/or tefillah will be sorely disappointed. The least they could have done would be to include a couple communal perakim of Tehillim, though that's apparently not part of the Federation agenda. I wonder how the Moetzes will feel about promoting it.

It's also interesting to note that there's no appearance by Doug Emhoff, the Jewish husband of Kamala Harris who went to Cornell last week to give chizuk to the Jewish students.
