What projector to buy
« on: August 29, 2024, 09:49:48 AM »
I need a Projector for the classroom for showing videos and displaying text on the white board.

There are so many options with such a big price range.

Can someone recommend one to buy or help me understand what I'm looking for?

What is your price range?

I would suggest to search reddithttps://www.reddit.com/r/projectors/ or call B&H (I believe they have a dept that deals with that).

Clip coupon

Seems like it usually fluctuates between $65 and $80.

Updated Mini Projector with Bluetooth and Projector Screen, Full HD 1080P Portable Video Projector, Home Theater Movie Projector Compatible with HDMI,USB,AV,Laptop,Smartphone ($219.99 )

I bought this one, and I think it's great. Now only $45 after clip coupon.

Here's my quick overview. It's not a high-power projector, meaning that it needs to be mostly dark in order to work well. I've use this in a big room in middle of the day, and it worked well after I closed the window shades, though for the best effect I sometimes also move a big box against the windows to block out more sunlight. One other downside to this specific model: I found the sound quality lacking, but it easily connects to a Bluetooth speaker.

Other than that, I highly recommend this. I've had this, and the very similar (but no longer available) DR.J models, for a while, and they did a fantastic job. And best of all, the price is really good, so I never had to stress out about kids getting too close or breaking it.

This may be good for home use. However, OP mention its for a classroom setting where I would assume the projector would need to be visible in a lit room as well.

Good point.

For showing videos, the light maybe could be turned off, but for displaying text on a whiteboard, it will need the light on.

When I quickly searched projectors I saw for $50-$100 so I was hoping to get for that price but I'm willing to pay whatever is necessary (the less the better).

Yes exactly. I need it to be visible with the lights on.

Sound is not a factor for me. I have other speakers. My main requirements are that it should be good quality and very bright.
