Book United Basic Economy with Chase UR
« on: December 21, 2023, 09:15:33 AM »
There's a really good BE fare I want to book, but it's not showing in the UR portal and they can't pull it over the phone, either. Are there any other ways to use UR for the booking?

Same here. Seems not all basic fare are showing on chase.  Using Expedia not sure why some yes and some not.
While Expedia had it all.

Probably something to do with NDC ticketing, Same reason why Matrix doesn't have the cheapest prices on AA or UA (I checked those 2, could be some other airlines too).

You can always book another flight of similar price and same airline and change it directly with the airline. YMMV depending on the airline and bank.

Have you ever done with Chase/United?

I think so, you can deff try to change the flight within the 24hr cancellation period.

They wanted to charge me a $50 reissue fee and wouldn’t budge.  :'(

K heard of that before, sometimes takes over 24hrs for ticket to integrate into United’s system as a regular ticket not connected to chase/ota booking and eventually will allow you to change. Have you tried a full refundable ticket? That may be easier to get them to play with.

I just did miles + cash. Don't fly United much so was fine redeeming them at a value of 1c/pp.

It wasn't such a big deal, but it's making me re-evaluate the value of hybrid points. BE is my bread and butter when flying alone.

FTFY IMO
Totally agree had it drastically with a few hotels recently but that’s expected to be able to find better prices than UR but the flight thing yes it’s out of hand and the rebooking method is not always possible or worth it if not with your main/familiar carrier.

Just had it with Amex. I hope waiting after 24 hours to ask for a credit that I can use directly with United will work.

That the price by them was more than direct with airline or that your having a hard time canceling for credit? It’s for the higher prices that I wrote chase. But yes using as a reg credit by the airline can be an Amex issue as well, only IME they don’t overcharge on flights vs chase

I have a discount with United, and I also don't want to pay for baggage. The requirement to use the card to get the baggage is a real pain.

Good point, not reasons to reevaluate hybrid points though. Chase however…

It does give me good reason to chuck the United explorer card. Way too much of a hassle for the benefits it provides.

Similar frustration here. Booking flights through chase portal. United BE is $140 RT and Economy is $220 RT. Chase only shows the Economy. Economy offers no additional value to me. So essentially i am redeeming points at 1c/p if i use Chase points, since I would be fine booking the BE class. Being that I have a lot of Chase points, seems silly to pay cash regardless.

You can pay with your CC for BE economy ticket, then reimburse the purchase @1 cpp and you'll also earn points on the purchase
