1) The app makes it much easier to connect with random strangers. What i believe is going on now is that someone's daughter wants to go to brooklyn for shabbos and they hear that their neighbor is going. so they send her with the neighbor. Now, all you do is open the app and a host of random people are there to take her. If someone is desperate they may just do it...
2) So the same could happen with someone who wants to send their 9 year old son to his cousin for shabbos. He picks only male drivers but... yeah... H"y

Now, they hear that their neighbor is going. so they send her with the neighbor, If they don't find any neighbor, all you do is open the app and a host of random people are there to take her. While I think this is a nice idea, the risks outweigh the good (IMHO).

I agree, people don't know how much this can cost, thousands of dollars for therapy, so for some it might be not only not free but also costly, but maybe there is a way to keep it safe, I wouldn't just throw away someone's hard work just like this...

I agree, people don't know how much this can cost, thousands of dollars for therapy, so for some it might be not only not free but also costly, but maybe there is a way to keep it safe, I wouldn't just throw away someone's hard work just like this...

Ideas:
1) Make it 18+ only.
2) Have it only with a camera in the car.
3) Have it only when there is 3 people in the car.

You’re right, OTOH not having the app doesn’t fully mitigate the underlying issue, which is people’s naivety/passivity.

It gives a predator  much wider access to potential victims. Hhr can offer ride as a couple then claim spouse couldn’t make it etc. It’s not like it couldn’t happen previously but if taking rides from anonymous strangers becomes de rigueur it can become a real problem.

I am assuming you can rate the driver and customer so this will only be a problem for the first customer/driver, but still a problem. (what does Uber do?)

but I think there is a different problem the way this app works is good for Uber when the driver wants to make money and will go to the person's house and pick them up and then drop them down, but when this is a chesed I think it needs to be the other way around, the driver offering a ride and whoever wants could come to his location and get the ride to the address he is driving to.

Uber is a business, they are goyim and only concerned about money. Other problems come up is why they have legal teams, but unless there is a serious chain of events that transpire they will say sorry and keep moving forward without any emotion or care

With a frum car service or uber, customers assume the employer has the identity of the driver, has vetted the driver with references and a background check, has real-time location of the vehicle, and likely an interior facing dash cam.

Hopefully even people who are willing to trust a car service to drive their child/ren, have the sense/intuition to differentiate that from a ride with a private individual with zero familiarity or oversight.

A paid service is much better than chesed / favors. When you feel someone did you a favor, there is a sense of gratitude/ reciprocity felt.

Lots of valid complaints but only against the offering rides part, the packages part seems like a really great idea, maybe most people will only use it for that.
