0 raised to the 0^th power is technically an indeterminate form. Any number to the 0^th power equals one, implying that 0⁰ is 1, but 0 to any power equals 0, implying that 0⁰ is zero. There is a lot of other incomprehensible mathematical back and forth on the subject, but generally speaking mathematicians lean toward the reasons that imply that 0⁰ is equal to 1, as Dan mentioned
