True, it's available to all. But they told all of us they would only be using Mersora/KJ as they do in all their stores. They told this to many people many times back when they first opened. If they made the switch, they shoiuld have told people or posted a sign. Why would I look in the back to check when they told me they would only be using Mesora? I needed to be told by someone in the Kashrus field, who alerted me. I didn't even believe it until I checked the boxes myself.

Regardless, they changed without informing all those who assumed it was status quo. I was not aware that Empire also checks for tzomos hagidin. I am under the impression that this is one of the maalos of Mesora/KJ.

Almost nothing in Kashrus stays the same for 20 years. KAJ left Empire since then, officially because of Kashrus standards. At least that's what they said.

They are under a Hashgacha which most who shop there rely on, if you have a particular standard or requirement, the onus is on you...

If you had a severe allergy to an ingredient, would you rely on an employee's information that you heard once upon a time ago or would you check every time before purchasing/eating?

I would not rely on any employee. The owner of Bingo and Hisachdus proudly told everyone they would not bend to the local Vaad, and they will stick with Mesorah poultry. If they changed policy, they need to inform us. Especially because I am in touch with Hisachdus. There were two recent kashrus violations in the meat department, and one in another part of the store which I caught. Hisachdus was very responsive and fixed the issues. But they should have mentioned to me that they switched their shechoita too.

1) When and where did the owner 'proudly tell everyone' that they won't bend to the Vaad and will stick with Mesorah poultry?

2) Do you really expect a supermarket that carries thousands of skus to update to each customer every time a certification changes?

The butcher department is not comparable to any of those thousands of other skus. Changing the shchita* of all your meat is a big deal and definitely should have visible notification.

KAJ left because empire added babad tartikov hechsher, and Kaj didn't like it, they sais its either KAJ or Babad so empire said what ever works for you we are moving forward with Babad.

Babad is not "forward".

Unless you are implying KAJ was not being honest, they write they couldn't keep the kashrus to their standards, and that is why they "didn't like it". This was a a huge financial loss for them, and I give them lots of credit for not folding.
