You can't mess with the best!
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

here is what happened: first i applied and got approved, but (for some stupid reason) declined their card. two days later i had remorse and reapplied, but they declined b/c i had applied and rejected their card so recently... soo basically i called 'em and they said i could reopen the application (the 1st one that i origionally declined) i was actually surprised that they did that but not complaining!
anyhow, this is really nice for me b/c im only 20 and need to start building credit!

is this your first cc?

this is the second time i've heard of someone getting a starwoods for their first card.

not bad - did you have to verify income or anything?

btw - calling after they decline you and getting a different answer is not out of the question. On other forums i've seen reports of people getting the card after having them reconsider twice.

It seems like a standard procedure w/ cc companies - other people here can tell me if i'm right or wrong - but it seems like if the standard application criteria in the computer or whatever means your declined that doesnt mean that on the phone with an underwriter or credit analyst who can make a decision on the spot and/or override the system you wont be able to either give them more details on your financial situation and/or sell them a boat or just ask nicely and be approved.

i was actually wondering if it would be a good idea to call and speak to someone before getting any response - if you know theres a chance you'll be declined...
