Hard to scale or get ROI on such events. The entire point of large seminars is to attract new engagement (traffic that converts to clicks/applications) and to keep the DD brand strong, I can’t see how small events accomplish either of this.

I'd easily pay a few hundred dollars (if not more) for this. Let's say you get 25 at $300 each - that's a decent chunk of change. But yeah scale is still an issue.

A beginner can easily justify $1,000; I don't know if a DDF'er can.

Yup. Compromising standards by going to a Pesach program or getting into Halachic shaalos just for the experience of spending time with Harper (that wasn't even advertised, might have been a game changer), is way too much of an expense.

That’s a bit harsh. When I see these TR’s or IG stories I don’t assume JJ is compromising his standards by going on the RC cruise. I assume those ARE his standards. TR that involve going to exotic locations that don’t have minyan available or Cancun or other swimsuit places doesn’t mean that the poster is compromising on his standards to get 10c per point value. It means that his standards are that there is room for flexibility when it comes to vacation. It may not be my standards but I think assuming that anyone is compromising on standards that they believe in is harsh.

There is the issue of TRs and the like normalizing things for others that may be below their personal standards but that’s a different discussion.

Everything needs to be evaluated. The experience of spending time with such a person might have tipped the scale (not saying it would have, just that it would have made it a serious thing to consider).

Seminars are evaluated by the value of the speakers. The more admirable, diverse, intellectually engaging and/or challenging, the better.

Please don't get me wrong. I am not doubting the Halachic validity of anything you did. But as you said there were various possible scenarios, and things might just be בדיעבד and still OK.

I have my own preferences as to what kind of situations I am willing to find myself in exchange what benefit.
