Which software should I use?
« on: February 14, 2024, 01:06:15 PM »
Looking for some basic video editing software for stitching 4k videos together.

I was using Adobe online but they limit to 1gb.

Seems like all the free options have size limits or won't do 4k.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

10 years ago I would have said Windows Movie Maker but it seems to have gone extinct.
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

The old Windows Movie Maker is still a great simple program, but the new one is horrible IMO. If you want the installer for the old one, DM me. Though I doubt it will do really powerful HD video. It's more for simpler easy videos.

Davinci Resolve

I was gonna say that but I feel like its a bit overkill for "basic video editing software for stitching 4k videos together". No?

Hit film express.
It's like a knockoff of premier pro, so might be overkill

That's hitfilm, I was referencing hitfilm express, but it looks like they discontinued new downloads Of HFE. I have an old version of it, haven't used in a long while.
Could probably still get the old free version somewhere, but yeah, not really a good solution here.

Overkill. Yes. Is most other free solutions limited/spam like. Yes as well.

When I started video editing I went straight for premier, learning the basics there is fairly straightforward and the upgrade path didn't require a new learning curve. Same for Davinci. And there's lots of easy tutorials and videos on it.

I can't find a more appropriate thread - looking for cloud based software to track donations, ongoing / a few campaigns a year - fairly simple. track donors, campaigns and generate receipts and email them.
thanks

Have you tried windows clipchamp? Depending on the size of your video, this could be a great option

Adobe Premiere Pro is simply the best, but if you're looking particularly for a free option, DaVinci Resolve or HitFilm Express can work too. They might seem overkill with all their features, but if you only need to cut footage together they'll be easy to use. Just takes a tutorial or two on YouTube to learn. Could maybe even iMovie if you're on Mac, that thing is mega easy to use.

What issues did you have with Shul Cloud?

I actually liked shul cloud. However, it took a learning curve to figure out a lot of their features (and i'm sure i didnt use most of them). When there was a changing of the guards (new board, treasurer etc), the treasurer didnt want to go through the learning process so he switched it out. (Also it was expensive as we no longer qualified for the small shul discount)
