Delta Medallion Status
« on: November 03, 2013, 07:10:41 AM »
I currently have Delta Silver Medallion status which expires soon, and  this year I have almost 16000 Skymiles from flying. I am not planning on flying between now and the end of the year, and I want to know if anyone knows of any simple, easy ways to keep my Medallion/Skyteam Elite status (without actually flying or opening new credit cards, etc. either) so that it won't expire.

(I asked Delta if I could transfer family members' miles to my account to get to 25000 but they said I need miles from flights that I flew. I also specifically stay with Skyteam.)

If anyone could help me, I'd really appreciate it! Thank you!

Not possible unless you find someone who will sell/give you status.

Though besides for opening cards, I don't know what other tricks you could have possibly been expecting.

What on earth for?! Spend big on the UA Club card for all the benefits of silver and more, AND 1.5 miles per dollar.

1) I received a promotional mailer (in the actual mail) from Delta offering me 60 days of Gold Medallion status and 60 days of free Sky Club Membership.

The expiration to sign-up is 3/31/14 and I have an outbound flight from NYC on 5/29/14 (covered by promotion) and inbound back to NYC on 6/7/14 (>60 days ie 67 days).  Any way they can extend Gold benefits for an extra week? Also, can I still get upgraded to Econ plus with Gold on that flight even though I won't be Gold at the time of the flight?

2) Any other airlines, *A, I can status-match with once I have Delta Gold?

Thanks in advance for any help!!!!

Having delta silver or gold medallion statues on a basic economy ticket of any help?  Don't remember off hand. But is it in fact true you can't move or select your seat?
IIRC you still get bags added. But don't remember about the seats if you can select your seat. Aside for upgrading which you probably can't do.
