I just took 4 flights in 9 days. I have a medical condition similar to arthritis. In short, its hard to sit in a confined spot because I need to stretch my legs. Otherwise its extremely painful. The last time i flew, i spent the day at an emergency room. I mentioned this to each checkin counter and no one except for one flight was able to accommodate me. Everyone else said there's nothing they would do unless I paid for an upgrade to either economy plus or business. The tickets already cost me $1400, so there's no way I wanted to pay more.

Is there any law or something stating they need to accommodate a medical condition? I had all my documents but not one person was remotely interested in looking at it. They did not care. I was shocked!

Beside that one flight, the other 3 were very difficult.

Thanks

Why would you be entitled to anything other than what you paid for?? Even if the seats were empty, a medical condition doesnt entitle you to have it for free. Should someone who is 500 lbs be entitled to a first class seat on every flight just because he can't fit in the seats on economy? I don't mean to insult you or make like of your medical condition, but can't understand why you are so shocked that they wouldn't give you more than you paid for.

When I buy a mattress, should I expect a therapeutic one instead of the basic one I purchased just because I have back problems and cant sleep on a basic one?

+1... Just don't fly if too painful. Not everything warrants a complaint

When you buy a car,  do you expect to pay for a civic and get a Lexus,  because it is more comfortable?

I'm shocked because if a plane has an open bulkhead seat, what difference does it make to them to let me sit in it? I have a legit reason for requesting that seat. It's empty anyways.its not like I am asking for extra legroom just for the legroom.. I'm asking for it because otherwise I am in pain on a 9 hour flight.

That argument can be made daily in life at almost any place of business.
If i own a restaurant and you are the last customer of the day, i can certainly give you a steak for free... But you are not entitled you it just because it will otherwise go in the garbage.
If i own a hotel, and you check in to your kind bed room with your 4 wives and 17 kids. Should you be entitled to the presidential suite because otherwise no one will sleep? Its going to go empty otherwise! I'm going to answer that question because I'm afraid to see your response - the answer is no. If you want the suite, you pay for it.

If you are in pain on a 9 hour flight, it would seem you ABSOLUTELY have a legit reason...to pay for the better seat! I'm also in pain when i fly economy ... And so is everyone else.

Why do you think you are entitled? It's  not a government program like wic or food stamps. It's a for profit operation

I am not sure why you're tone sounds like an attitude... My original post was a question whether there was a law for airlines to accommodate medical conditions. I did not bash the airline or say anything bad about a specific one. For some reason, my question triggered something in you and now you're going off on me. You have an issue, see a therapist. I don't understand why this is turning into something bigger than it needs to be. You could just answer the question and get on with life. And if you read above, when I said I was shocked, it wasn't because they did not give me a seat. It's because they didn't even care to look at my documents.

Why do you think you are entitled? It's  not a government program like wic or food stamps. It's a for profit operation
Did I think I was entitled to it? I am not sure. That was my question above. And questioning why they wouldn't give me a seat that is open, is legit too. I don't understand the 'over-reacting' responses.  You feel like biting someone's head off, go find a play-toy. I just asked a question, which could have had a simple "Yes" or "No" answer.

The fact that you are posting here means that you believe that you were wronged and ate looking for money or points... That's what I can't fathom

Flew JetBlue roundtrip and both flights had an issue with the sound on my entertainment system. On the way there I managed to make it work eventually by holding the earphones a certain way, but on the way back it was fuzzy and shrill the whole way and wasn't really usable. Should I bother requesting compensation? What might they offer?

Miracle, some airlines like Delta will give you the blukhead seat when you have a medical condition. You can get it done via calling CUS before the flight.
You can say what you think when you think what you say.

Flew Azerbaijan business. My first aisle seat, the seat controls did not work. They then moved me to a window seat where the IFE didn't work. There were no other seats. Can I ask for something?
