Flight was canceled because of mechanical issues. That was for JFK-MIA. On same reservation (paid), there was a connecting flight to Brazil that is once per day. Got the flight 24 hours later. What should I ask for?

EWR to FLL.
When I left the house at 1 pm, on line it said 10 in delay to 2:40 pm
At 2:50 I got an email that it's delayed to 3:15.
At 3:26 I got an email that it's delayed to 3:32.

They MUST have known earlier! Why can't they give us more notice? Then I wouldn't have needed to rush out of the house! ( I also accidentally took the wrong route - so I wouldn't have been worried the whole car ride!)

They got there OK. I'm just frustrated at united! Maybe I need to put this in http://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=18685.0

I asked the flight attendent if i could switch to a seat in front of him thinking that i might get my drink first at the next meal and maybe I'd get 2 extra ice cubes. The FA said there were no extra seats as it was a full flight. So i demanded that i be upgraded to first class and she said no!!
Is there still chance for compensation??? $:-\$

What can I get for asking for water and waiting 20 minutes! I have a medical condition and I need to drink a lot of water.

What about this one. I once flew American very early in the morning, and Starbucks was closed in the airport, and I needed a coffee. I asked for one on the plane, and they gave me lukewarm coffee and they had no milk, just creamer. Can I get a free flight to Israel as compensation?

Missing a morning coffee can be extremely traumatizing (especially for your traveling companions)

This is the airline compensation thread. You should be contacting Starbucks directly for your free flight. Otherwise known as "the Starbucks method"

Eh, YMMV. I got the free flight, but on my ticket they spelled my name "Yefoojah." Worthless.

Just out of curiosity why is that any worse than taking advantage of a price mistake with jet, amazon, orbitz etc and asking for compensation if its not honored?

I was switched flights because the first flight was cancelled. im a tall person so an aisle seat lets me stretch out my legs.
I was told when they put me on the new flight that I had an aisle seat.
I didn't know until I got on to the plane that I had a window seat.

Flight: cvg-jfk (rebooked to phl)
Class: economy (ba award ticket)
Incident: flight canceled for maintenance issue
Compensation: $300 + $200 aa voucher

I was flying Delta from Shanghai to Detroit the other day and the flight was delayed by 3 hours and 10 minutes. Flight was delayed for 3 reasons. First, due to the late arrival of the incoming aircraft, then due to mechanical issues, and then finally again because we had to wait a about 40 more minutes for a new departure slot from ground traffic.

Most delays don't really bother me so much and I've never complained before. This one however caused me some pretty big headaches and basically made my whole trip a waste of time. I'm going to have to do the trip all over again now just because of the delay.

Can I expect any compensation for this? If so how much, and how to go about it?

You are totally intitled to the compensation with a free flight to Israel if you were wearing 1 red shoe and 1 green shoe that day on the plane. But the red shoe must be on the right foot.
