I was flying Delta from Shanghai to Detroit the other day and the flight was delayed by 3 hours and 10 minutes. Flight was delayed for 3 reasons. First, due to the late arrival of the incoming aircraft, then due to mechanical issues, and then finally again because we had to wait a about 40 more minutes for a new departure slot from ground traffic.
Most delays don't really bother me so much and I've never complained before. This one however caused me some pretty big headaches and basically made my whole trip a waste of time. I'm going to have to do the trip all over again now just because of the delay.
Can I expect any compensation for this? If so how much, and how to go about it?
