Maybe it's just me, but I don't see the advantage in telling them about Jewish holiday observance, as opposed to simply explaining you had to be somewhere at a certain time.
Point taken.
I guess telling them that I had an external time constraint, as opposed to just wanting to be there asap, was my point. I could have said I had a meeting scheduled for x time that could not be missed.

Fwiw, they wrote back, said that they don't compensate for weather, but as goodwill and in appreciation of loyalty, gave us $75 voucher per person. I thought that was nice.  It does make me feel  more loyalty.

I was on AA 331 today, which was diverted to Milwaukee due to a malfunctioning radar at O'Hare. Surprisingly, we only arrived about two hours two late. The flight was booked with Avios for 2 pax.

I've been calling and calling the united baggage claim line to have them issue me the $250 compensation voucher they offered me but I never received. Each time they say they're sending it out and I never receive it. This must have happened 9 or 10 times already. In addition, they always claim supervisor is in meeting or on phone call and I can't speak to them. They say they will arrange a call back but I have never gotten one. I ask the reps to document it so they can see exactly how many times I called about this and how I was never called back etc.
The question is what's my next step - is there someone I can email or a different department I can speak to? And can I get compensation for all the aggravation and time spent on hold?
Update: I just got a check in the mail for reimbursement of my expenses for the 2 days my suitcase was missing (which basically means free souvenir t-shirts sweatshirts etc... lol). Still waiting and waiting for the $250 compensation voucher. I call weekly and they say we are resending it but I never receive it. Something doesn't make sense. Plus, I have NEVER been able to get a supervisor on the line & have yet to receive a call back although I was promised a return phone call many times.

AA flight from LGA-ORD was diverted to MKE due to radar outage. The delay was about 1:30. I don't think I really deserve anything, but pegap the experts here feel otherwise.

my letter to swiss:

To whom this may concern,
Words cannot adequately describe how frustrated I was about my flight last week.
I was very much looking forward to my business class seat along with my family; I splurged this time to travel with my family business class since this was the final part of a three legged trip and two overnights in a row. I thought it was worth doing because I figured with the lay flat bed  I'll be able to sleep and arrive to my destination well rested along with my family. However when I got on the line to board the plane I realized that the plane was switched to a non business class  plane: with no flat beds as previously shown when i made the booking, only an empty inaccessible middle seat. I am 190 cm and was put in the bulkhead seat, the worst possible seat as I could not stretch out my legs and was practically sitting in the kitchen. I asked if I could move to the empty row 3, but was told its for the crew to rest in. Needles to say I didn't sleep a wink and therefore noticed that no one sat there for even a second.
Business class boarding was not even offered and by the time we arrived at our seats, there was no overhead storage left. The cabin crew wanted to put our bags in the baggage hold and reluctantly agreed to store our bags many rows behind which delayed our timely exit of the aircraft.
My family ordered special meals, only one was available instead of four. When I expressed  my concerns to the crew member (who was actually very nice, helpful and sympathetic) she told me that I was completely correct and that I should send in a complaint because this was simply not what I had before originally. What I saw online was a beautiful spacious lay flat bed which is what I thought was worth splurging for, this, however was nothing like that. I feel that switching the plane was very wrong and deceiving, I feel as I have been wronged.  This coming week I'm returning (10/1 flights LX 257 and 14 reservation code 4LWHBR) and I am quite nervous that the same might occur.

I hope to hear back from you as soon as possible and I expect generous compensation.
Thank you for your time

Nah. Equipment swaps happen. Nothing you can do. Here is from a post from TPG.

After the fact, however, you may want to contact the airline and express your disappointment that the plane was downgraded to an inferior one. Again, since contracts of carriage offer no guarantees for in-flight products, the airline isn’t obligated to give you anything. However, you may be offered bonus miles or a small voucher as a goodwill gesture for the inconvenience.

exactly what i did.
i just feel like its one thing to get an older version of a business class and quite another to be given empty middle. how can that be called business class? i understand if you buy it that way, but to change someone to that and than the crew completely considered us economy from the checkin to the onboard service! i know this because i came back in regular business and the service was completely different not even an amenity kit!
