I booked an AA flight, LHR-JFK, BOS-LHR, using Citi thank you points for a friend. Passenger is platinum member on AA.
Due to unusual traffic he arrived at LHR 45 min before flight. He was denied boarding and they wouldn't book him onto another flight until he spoke to the travel agent. He tried haggling with them and in the meantime I called thank you travel. After a long hold they told me that AA at LHR have cancelled the entire itinerary, so nothing they can do.
Passenger had to rebook (with BA) for almost double the price plus he had to pay for his second suitcase which he would have had free on AA due to his elite status.
Who do I write to? AA? DoT? Citi Thank You?
And what can I expect?
happen to me on AC i got a "you';re lucky we didn;t charge you more"

Why didn't he get free bags on BA?
Only one bag free on BA.
Isn't there a rule that they have to reticket you if you were there within the hour? Or is that nonsense?

broken ent. system on ua ewr-tlv..apparently a couple dozen people had the issue

what will they do? does status help?

the FA was saying how the previous day 7 whole rows were broken and since they knew b4 take off, they issued $250 vouchers + refund of eco+ fee to all passengers...

she also said that they cant fix these issues in israel so if its broken on outbound it will be broken on inbound...

Last summer I had AA award booking for me and my family (baby and small kids) PHL-TLV in Businesses.
The flight got cancelled due to maintenance,
They re-booked me without asking into economy the next day with BA with a stop in London
They didn't want to give us any taxi vouchers or hotel vouchers
We didn't have ksml on our flights
We had to repack our luggage as they were 70lb. and I lost my prepaid hotel reservation.
After going back and forth by email the only thing AA gave is $200 voucher per passenger, anyway to get them to give something more?
So not getting anywhere with AA
What are my best options and chances?
Small Claims Court, Civil Court or Israeli Court based on the Israel aviation services law?
Contacted DOT almost a month ago and Didn't get a answer yet

Anyone have an email address that I can use to write to AA?
The form on their site does not seem to allow attachments...

I think the issue was that he could not prove it. Not sure, wasn't in the airport with him.
As a rule, does an AA PLT get elite status when flying on a BA issued ticket?

When they add their AA FFN, yes.

seriously? What exactly do you wanna claim for? He did not arrive on time to the airport so he was denied boarding. It happens every day. As per the airline rules you are a no show and you lose the value of the tkt. Be happy they rebooked you on BA.

Did you send AA a copy of the Israeli aviation laws?

DoT should respond any day. How it works is that DoT sends your claim to AA and if AA does not follow up then they take care of it. DoT talks to the right people so if you sent them a copy of the Israeli aviation laws they will probably just give in.

He did have to pay for it (not sure if he got the value of his original ticket).

Yes, but one thing re: BA, you don't get extra bags if the original ticket didn't include one bag.

I stand correct on this. Still, AA owes him nothing.

Had to pay double what I originally paid. Total $2000+ out of pocket for a $700 ticket. I now see that I have no claim, but would have thought that when a PLT member comes 5 min late they would try and accommodate...

When they add their AA FFN, yes.

Yes, but one thing re: BA, you don't get extra bags if the original ticket didn't include one bag.

Thanks.
