Trying to get compensation for a flight EWR-BRU-TLV where the EWR-BRU leg was delayed by three hours which would have meant missing the connection. United re-booked through London and the flight landed 9 hours later than the original landing time.
The official reason they gave is "ATC Flow Control".

This is the email response they gave to the claim
Thank you for contacting United Airlines regarding your recent travel with us.

We have again reviewed your request for cash compensation under the Israeli Law and found that we complied with all the applicable regulations at the time of your flight.

I understand that the delay was, at best, very frustrating and truly regret you were disappointed.  Please let me explain why cash compensation is not applicable under the Israeli Air Passenger Law.  Because all routine preventative maintenance actions were performed on the aircraft as scheduled, and the cancellation could not have been reasonably predicted or avoided, the event is considered force majeure and exclusionary to the mandatory compensation rules.

Please know that our legal department carefully reviews each of these matters with our system and technical operations groups to ensure we are in full compliance with the appropriate legal standards.  Although the cause of the irregularity was extraordinary and unable to be avoided, we did what we could to minimize it, and have nothing further to advise at this point.

Regards,

Corporate Customer Care

United Airlines

Would you guys consider ATC delay to be a Force Majeure?

IIRC compensation is per segment. Otherwise im entitled to Israeli Comp not EU. Which is more than what they're offering now.
So swiss refuses to budge. EU comp only. They already processed 600€ but i should get 3080 shekel. Any jdeas?

Was traveling in business on a return leg from BUD-FRA- JFK.
As crew scanned my boarding pass I was told there was an “error” . Next thing I know they give me a new boarding pass in economy, no explanation given whatsoever. We were rushing to catch the connecting flight so didn’t make too large of an issue as it was only for short leg from BUD to FRA.
Turns out a Lufthansa pilot needed a ride to Frankfurt so they just downgraded me:)

I reached out to United(was booked using Mileage Plus) showing them both boarding passes and their best offer was a $400 voucher. No word back from Lufthansa yet.
Any suggestions ,recommendations etc...?

thanks!

There's mandatory EU compensation for this, AFAIK you should reach out to Lufthansa.

That mandatory compensation offers 30% refund of the ticket price.

There’s not much of a ticket price on the short segment of a mileage ticket..

Question:

Had a flight in Business class with Swiss HKG-ZRH, ZRH -BUD last week.
The first leg was delayed, and therefore the second flight was re-booked because of our late arrival. We arrive in BUD 4 hours and 55 minutes late. (We also didn't get a kosher meal on the second leg because of the re-booking)

Do we deserve compensation for this?

Thank you,

Alex/Heshy

What was the reason for the delay?
They said that the tower wouldn't let any flights take off in HKG because of some weather en-route.

What's the deal with a flight cancellation due to "Air Traffic Congestion"? After a phone call, passenger was re-accommodated on a flight departing 30 minutes earlier and arriving 130 minutes later than originally scheduled flight. Original flight was direct.

Has anyone ever attempted to ask for compensation due to extremely long check-in lines? Waited over an hr to see an agent in AMS (KLM flight) because kiosk gave me an error with my reservation. B"H I followed the recommendation to arrive at the airport 3 hrs before the flight otherwise I would have been late to board.

They could have staffed more lines. Of the 10 booths, they maybe had 4 agents working.

Gate agent was really nasty to me and DW on United domestic First (Full fare ticket )
i emailed and got this...

'' While we won't be able to honor your request on this particular issue, and will consider this matter concluded, please know the feedback was shared with appropriate management.  We'll use your comments to review our procedures with your point-of-view in mind. We'll also make every effort to leave a better impression the next time you give us the privilege of serving you and delivering the experience you deserve.  Your request for compensation is again denied.''

emailed from dw acc. as her ticket was a different pnr  and got $450 (obviously from another agent) can i now mention ie my husband as well? or since the previous agent denied it, it will come up and than possibly cancel the 450 i already got.

id suggest calling it in, and complain don't mention the email.
Once they offer you comp which I believe they will,
you can say my wife got X amount can you match that.
