I traveled for business purposes to Europe with Austrian two weeks ago, and my luggage with my sample products never arrived to VIE. Ultimately, the baggage was returned to JFK and delivered to me after my trip concluded. The purpose of my trip was to visit factories and review these sample in detail with the manufacturers to discuss potential for production.

Am I entitled to compensation for the delayed baggage considering that they caused the trip to be a complete waste and it will need to be repeated again due to their negligence? Can the expenses of the actual trip (or at least the flights) be considered a "reasonable expense" resulting from the delayed baggage?

I tried reading up on this, but the language is very vague...
Interesting question
If anything the expense should be the second trip you need to take
Do be careful of taking court if you were on a tourist visa as that would be admitting you were there for business

Not the actual flights, but yes, you are entitled to compensation
DM me if you want more details how I got money from them also for something similar

Not sure if it’s been discussed here or elsewhere, but I’ve now heard of 3 instances in the past few weeks of AA taking people off flights because the plane is too heavy to fly. They then offer you a choice to be wither “voluntarily” denied boarding or “involuntarily “ denied. If you choose to be voluntarily then they give you a AA credit of $1000. If it’s involuntary you go through the DOT and can get cash and ideally more than $1000. Up until a few weeks ago I’d never heard of this, and now it’s happened to people I know 3 times. Any insight?

Wizz Air flight LGW-TLV today diverted back to London after flying for an hour due to the pilot claiming he was ill. I rebooked onto the Luton-Tel Aviv flight tomorrow. What am I eligible for (and how do I get Wizz to pay up)?

Be very careful choosing involuntary
If they are offering that it is for a reason
Any chance these are operated by regionals?
There is an exception to IDB compensation and reporting for regional partners

I had a flight JFK-CDG-KRK with 1 hour stop in CDG. Ended up sitting on tarmac due to ground handling not having available jet bridge, and missed my connection to KRK, had to take another CDG-AMS-KRK flight to reach KRK, arrived 5 hours late. Am I entitled to compensation under EU law?

If it was an EU airline you are for sure eligible, if it was a non-eu airline I'm not sure

After a long back and forth with Austrian where they claimed the flight arrived early (they checked the day before), they now accept that it arrived 12 minutes late (I don't think that accounts for when the doors opened, just arrival at the gate) but claim that since the MCT is 25 minutes, it's not their problem that I didn't make the flight. The thing is A. I don't think this accounts for a transfer from non Schengen to Schengen with passport control. B. It also doesn't account for a transfer to a remote terminal and gate (you have to take a bus which only comes once in 10 minutes, you can't walk). C. No one on my flight made any connecting flights. I was one of the first at the rebooking desk and still had a long line of people all from my flight.

Who is right here? Austrian or me?
Bump? :)

That's for no delay by the incoming flight. And, I know they are trying to get out of it. All LH group airlines do that. The question is if they're justified or not.

So they sent 600 Euros. Which is a little less than 520 GBP, but I’m honestly just surprised it was so easy getting money from them

I flew United EWR to LHR business. 15a
Side panel was disgusting. Full of crumbs and I even saw bugs crawling. (Tried taking pictures but not great lighting) literally couldn’t sleep because of the bugs
Flight attendant was disgusted too. He gave me 10k points as goodwill and told me to email corporate. Sent them an email and they responded 6 days later with 5k points. Responded that I’m looking for full refund. Let’s see where that goes.
Flight attendant also gave me $200 credit because they mistakenly gave me the dairy meal heated up during dinner and then when they heated up the meat dinner, they ripped it open so that became unusable too.
