My Israir flight from FCO to TLV was initially scheduled for 8:35am direct.  Then they added a 35 minute stop in Cyprus. Then they delayed the flight to 12:25. Then the flight finally took off at around 3pm, and the stop on Cyprus was closer to two hours.

Do I have any claim under either European or Israeli law, or due to the current ongoing situation in Israel, are all bets off  for the foreseeable future? I would understand if there were any developments on the day of the flight, but BH there weren’t. Everything here seemed preventable. Are airlines pretty much getting a free pass now?

They also did not ask for volunteers to give up their seats for compensation. They went straight to telling people they couldn't board because they were overbooked. I believe that is against the law. They picked my brother-in-law hoping they would get the whole family to stay behind and open up 10 seats even though they all had boarding passes. They also took advantage of the fact the 400% of the price of his ticket was under $80. Do we have a case from the fact that they didn't ask for volunteers? Their offer was a connecting flight the next day through Dallas with hours of layover instead of his direct itinerary. What can we reasonably expect?

Long story short, we missed our Jetblue flight from PBI, (had good seats, 8 Even more space seats thanks to status match from United silver from Marriott Titanium taht came through perfect timing). They were able to put us on a flight an hour later to EWR which had been delayed about 5 hours. Plenty of room in the back rows and they even allowed to bring a doona in an empty seat. Anyway just after take off I get an email from Jetblue apologizing for the delayed flight and they will be issuing $100 voucher per passenger. Not bad getting vouchers for missing a flight. 😁

General question: I read earlier in the thread that airlines are still using Oct 7 as an excuse.

But what about Arkia?
Currently dealing with a flight that got canceled, rebooked same airline, then delayed another four hours. Still in airport so who knows. Can they claim still Oct 7 exemption? Right now the latest delay is from 1030 pm to 245 am = over six hrs. Does eu261 apply from ATH to TLV?

Flight booked tlv-fco-nyc, (ITA airlines) and return was nyc-fco-tlv (ITA)
Flight home from fco - tlv got canceled right before the flight in the airport airport. Pax (4pax) needed new flights from. Fco - Tlv. 2 pax booked the last seat (adult and baby) on an elel flight which cost $800
2nd two pax booked for the next day at $1800 for the 2 seats.
Thank God pax got to destination safe.
The luggage although.. Sadly was not very safe.
Pax filed for weeks already for missing luggage that were stuck in fco. (carseat and two luggage's)
ITA said they'll reimburse 100 euro voucher for this.
Luggage turned up in tlv 55 days later. Moldy, and missing items.
Flight was booked with an agent not sure how-but no protection of credit card. Pax bought insurance via local insurance agents and they said they don't cover because it's a return flight and if the suitcase is totally lost after dealing with the airline.
Any options for them seeing a penny from this?
They keep emailing and calling and don't seem to be getting anywhere...
Thanks if anyone has insight and can help.

NYC-LGW-PFO with BA there was a delay on the 1st segment causing a misconnect, BA rebooked them from LHR to LCA (Instead of LGW-PFO). The pax are scheduled to arrive 6 Hr. 55 min later than originally scheduled. I have 2 pax, 1 in J the 2nd in W/Y. Are they entitled to any compensation?

If it's not an "extraordinary circumstance" you can claim EU/UK261 compensation for 600 euros each, (you can also try to claim the cost of transport to LHR if you have receipts)

read up on it and then send them a strongly worded letter asking them for their legal address as you want to take them to court. If you know your rights it is much easier to win. I had a similar experience with LOT and after sending them such a letter they promptly paid out.
I am only offering my experiences with luggage, I am not saying that you aren’t eligible for the cancelled flights as well
I don’t know if your eligible for the cancelled flights but I would imagine so, why didn’t THEY put you on a new flight?

Had an AirEuropa flight scheduled for the 2nd of December and it was cancelled yesterday (Nov 25th) (1 week notice). I understand that under Israeli law I should be eligible for compensation. Does anyone have experience with this? The airline is just offering a full refund but no compensation.

Compensation you won't get but they do have to pay for your new ticket under eu and israeli law.
