Without going into details, a delay on a European carrier with a stop-over, rebooked on a non-stop

Comp:
Airline: delay expenses + EU comp
Travel Insurance: delay expenses
CC: delay expenses
Forgot to mention, when Visa reads NIS as dollars...

Just wondering what I'm entitled to, if anything. I flew from TLV-JFK via Istanbul and since there was a major snowstorm everything was screwed up.
Firstly, my flight from TLV kept getting delayed and finally took off over 4 hours late which caused me to miss my connecting flight. I was then put on the next flight to JFK which was at 7 AM local time (landed at around 5:30 PM local time) and was offered a hotel. Because of all the craziness, there must have been at least a thousand people on the hotel line so I sat in a coffee shop and then later went into a lounge to shower, etc.
When arriving in JFK the next day, everything was fine until they announced that the cargo hold was frozen shut on the plane so that was another hour delay. Then to top it off, my baggage did not make it with me and it appears to me that it never made it out of TLV (It was delivered to me over 2 days later). So there you have it, 36 hour trip from TLV-JFK.

I was planning on just asking for reimbursement for my food and lounge costs but wondering if I should ask for anything for the baggage mishap? Thanks.

Airlines generally don't have to give money if the delays are due to weather, but it never hurts to ask. If you do ask, make sure to highlight how the situation on the ground with customer service should have been handled better/differently.

Hi, I'm wondering what I should expect in compensation for this saga.

I booked a reward flight for my parents who flew yesterday. Original coach award itinerary (using AmEx Platinum for taxes) on United, DTW-IAH-HNL-LIH. DTW-IAH was delayed (official reason listed as delayed flight crew) resulting in missed connection. After much negotiation, they were rebooked through LAX direct to LIH, arriving 2 hours later than the original itinerary. LAX-LIH leg was in Economy Plus (original was just Economy).

Bags didn't make it to LIH, and by the time they worked out the baggage situation Thrift Car Rental was closed (they had a full paid reservation).

Besides those bare facts, other headache-inducing situations: gate agent was ruuuu-uuuude in IAH, phone agent was completely unhelpful and wouldn't offer anything short of a next-day itinerary with NO upgrade; They were supposed to have a 3hr layover in HNL, allowing them to get dinner before HNL-LIH. The new itinerary left them at IAH for 3+ hours, and under 1 hr in LAX where they weren't able to have a proper meal. (I told them they should ask for food vouchers in IAH, and then told them they should ask for a First Class meal for the LAX-LIH leg, but they kept declining to ask- "don't want to push our luck!"). Those box dinners just wouldn't cut it for my dad, with blood sugar issues.

So, one question is what to expect from United in compensation - the other is, what will AmEx Plat cover in terms of lost baggage protection? They're on the island right now, I'm in Chicago - if there is protection offered on AmEx, how would I leverage that for them from the mainland?

A close friend of mine was on the 12-hour-on-the-tarmac-No-food--no-water American Airline nightmare Flight from DFW - Oklahoma. Any Ideas of who or what he should do to get compensated?

I booked a flight for someone to BOM using UA miles. On the return, they had connection from AI-UA in LHR. Pax had already boarded the UA flight and took her seat when the supervisor came on and told her that they weather cancellations earlier in the day, and since she was booked "in the lowest fare class" they needed to deboard her and give her seat to someone else or downgrade her to economy. She needed to be on that flight so chose to sit in Y over being rebooked for the next flight.
What sort of compensation can I demand/expect?
What's the best avenue for seeking comp?

CRAZY! This can probably be a good DoT case.

Air Canada lost my wife's luggage with a ton of valuable clothing inside.  Now they're giving us the runaround.  Any suggestions.  Thanks!!!

I flew LAX - LIH on 2/15/15 and our box of food was sent on a separate flight and arrived in LIH at about 10:30PM - we arrived 1:30 PM.
It was delivered to our hotel (GHK) at 12:05AM - only because a supervisor at LIH was nice enough to drop it off after he finished work when I told him my daughter had gone to sleep without lunch or dinner - otherwise Id have driven to LIH to pick it up.

It was only because I was on the phone with AA and LIH all day that the food arrived then and not the next day all spoiled.
We have a 24 month old daughter who went to sleep that night without a proper lunch or dinner and I had to purchase pain killers for myself for a migraine that was due to a lack of having our proper kosher food.

Flight was operated by AA, booked through orbitz.
Purchased using Barclay Arrival +
Purchased travel insurance from orbitz together with the ticket

To whom should I complain for the best likely outcome?

There wasnt a large amount of actual financial cost - just some fruit and painkillers so I doubt I'll get much from travel insurance, but it was a massive inconvenience and a cause of physical discomfort - so would my best bet be compaining to AA by email?

united responded and gave us a $150 voucher. should i ask then to reimburse us the miles for the last leg of the trip (the one we did not take). still waiting on air canada's response

air canada gave us four 15% off base fare coupons (two from air canada and two from air canada baggage). i guess it's better than nothing (although i doubt we will use it)

I sent an expensive and brand new stroller on a AF CDG-TLV flight; sent through the oversized / fragile desk. When I opened the box in TLV I found out it broke during the flight.

Is there any hope here or the airline don't have responsibility over what's in the box / suitcases?

They do to a certain amount. Did you file a report at the airport?

Did you file a claim? They need to pay, but have a legal limit of how much (IIRC its $1200)
what is the best cc to use? also paying for tax/YQ on award flight will do the trick?
Paying the Tax does qualify
