Is there an email address for the DOT that you could use to CC them on a complaint to an airline? AA has been ignoring emails from a friend.

I tried searching on this thread, on DDMS and Google. I only pulled up the form, but not an email address.

Why not just fill out the DOT form?

This is a federal agency we're talking about..  You likely need to file a claim through their site so it gets assigned a case # and gets assigned to an agent to be dealt with.

You can include in the notes that you've been trying to deal with the airline directly but have been getting ignored.

Ok. Got it. I do remember people saying that they've CC'ed the DOT on correspondence with the airlines. It's an EU delay claim, so I would like to keep the correspondence with the airline since it's not the DoT's domain, but still have the DoT cc'ed so they respond.

+1
for flights TO Europe it only applies to European carriers.
:-[
Passengers flying from the U.S. to Europe on non-EU airlines are not currently eligible for compensation for flight delays and cancellations. US law provides protection against being involuntarily bumped (denial of boarding) on flights departing from US and US domestic flights, but the compensation for delays and cancellations provided by EU law is not available for flights originating from outside Europe, unless the flight is with a European carrier.

Flight delayed 4 hours on UA then cancelled

EWR-GRR

12pm flight from EWR was delayed for half an hour. Finally boarded than Deplaned after 2 hours then UA boarded us again after 30 minutes for another hour then deplaned us and cancelled flight 30 minutes later with no explanation.  Spent the next hour and a half in the airport with customer service  because I couldn't call United directly due to the fact that my tickets that I was still on an active flight because it wasn't canceled in the system yet. They were not able to put me on anything else out of EWR that day even for other airports close by, so they protected me on Delta from LGA on 9pm  flight that was delayed till 10:40 PM.
3 planes, 2 airports, an 11 hour total delay and disastrous day traveling.

What can  I expect?

Requested Israeli compensation from UA, can take 3080INS cash or $1000 voucher or 30k miles.
I don't understand why it's not worth it for them to offer more miles instead of the cash or even $1000 voucher.

there's a thread discussing this.
Bottom line if you plan on flying United take the voucher.

You honestly expect them to give you a free international business class ticket instead of a $1000 travel voucher?  ::)

Anyways, as far as they are concerned, 30k and $1k have the same value, since they sell points for 3.5 cents each (so 30k x 0.035 = $1050).

Forget about what you can redeem it for, 30k miles does not cost them anything near $850 cash.

I have an Itinerary with Alaska Airlines (I’m MVP Gold) and I was notified of a change in one of the flights, departing 4 hours after original flight booked, called them up and got $125 voucher per passenger, anyone had better luck with them in the past?

Seeking advice about compensation for UA85 from TLV to EWR was severely delayed on July 3, 2018 due to weather issues at EWR.

The plane was rerouted to PHL, where it was also unable to land due to weather issues, and then to BWI, where it sat on the tarmac for  about 4 hours because no gates were available for passengers to deplane.  Eventually, some passengers were sent by bus to EWR, while others waited for the plane to depart and reached EWR about 9 hours behind schedule.

I had booked a Mileage Plus Economy award TLV-EWR-YYZ.  With all the issues, UA eventually rebooked to an AC nonstop from BWI to YYZ at my request.  UA covered overnight meals and lodging at BWI.

1.  This was a Mileage Plus award.  Am I entitled to any compensation?  If so, how much?
2.  I don't know the exact amount of time the plane sat on the tarmac at BWI.  It was AROUND 4 hours.  Do I need to know exactly how long it was, and if so, how do I find out?

Thanks for your help!

Booked family of 8 with aeroplan miles on united metal ewr to gva. (6 in y, 2 in j.) Upon arrival at the check in desk, united said 2 of the tickets were not ticketed. Quickly called aeroplan, who reinstated the tix, but not soon enough. We missed the flight. United rebooked us Ewr-Muc-Gva on Lh. 1) no ksml. 2) no j on the Muc-Gva seg.
What am I asking for from aeroplan;)

Guys can you please clarify if I eligible for any compensation besides $15 food voucher?
I was rebooked to Lufthansa flight at JFK today due to my original Austrian flight being delayed for several hours, making impossible  to catch my connecting flight in Vienna.
The new Lufthansa flight departs 5 hours later than my original Austrian flight (I was given a $15 food voucher) + there will be adinional 5+Hours connection in Frankfurt. At the end, i’ll get to my final destination (MSQ) almost 8 hours later than scheduled on my original itinerary.
The ticket was purchased with United miles and Freedom c/c for fees.
Any advice?
