Tell them you deserve full compensation under Israeli law and that you will not settle for the $300 voucher.

Done deed.  Let's see what happens.

So this is the story. I had a flight JetBlue from JFK to LAS monday night 9:30. We boarded regular. 2 hours in we made an emergency landing in Chicago due to a malfunction of the smoke detector by the baggage compartment.  We had to get off the plane. About an hour later we are notified that JetBlue is looking for a new crew to take us to further  to LAS. A little later they tell us that we need to go back to jfk because the pilot cant fly legally more than another two hours and to LAS was 4. But they promised a ready plane that we will be able to hop on and leave asap, So we board and go back to JFK. In JFK the plane was not ready. After another two hours we started boarding.  The manifest was hand written so once we boarded they were trying to find all the people that didnt come back on the flight. (Some were going for 24 hours to the KBIS show and at this point there was no point in going)

From our original take off until we actually landed in LAS was 19 hours and three legs. And alot of motion sickness and turmoil.  :'(

Obviously hotel reservations got cancelled because of no show.

JetBlue gave us right away $325 travel bank credit. Was nice of them but not nearly enough IMO

How much compensation can I request and how should I go about? Use a company that does it or try on my own?
I got another $125.  So total $475 travel bank.  Is this reasonable or should I push for more?

Bad people over there.  Look what they wrote to me.
They're not budging from their $300 "gift"

---

Thank you very much for your patience as we reviewed your request for cash compensation for United Flight 91 on December 26, 2018.  Prior to departure, a mechanical issue beyond our control impacted the operation of the aircraft originally scheduled for your flight.  I regret it took so long to resolve the problem and get you on your way. While schedule reliability is a primary goal, we know you understand that the safety of our passengers and crew is our first priority.

Although compensation under the Israeli Air Services Law is not applicable in this case as the flight delay was was due to extraordinary circumstances, we certainly recognize that your travel plans were adversely affected.  I know that you already received an electronic travel certificate from Mr. Armando Cruise, and I do hope you will apply the certificate toward a future ticket purchase with United.

We appreciate your understanding and look forward to welcoming you onboard a future United flight.

Now what?
Get someone to post this on some website?  I'm not on social media, Boruch Hashem.

Respond back that mechanical issues are not considered extraordinary circumstances under Israeli law and therefore you are entitled to the full compensation under Israeli law.

Done deed -  waiting...

The problem is, the $300 voucher can't  be used in combination with miles -- so it's just an invitation to spend more money by them.
Like -- chutzpah or what?

Sell it in the Good for sale board.

What is there to sell?  It's not transferable.

A friend flew LOT from ORD to TLV. Flights were booked in economy, but he upgraded the ORD-WAW leg to J and seat was broken. Planning on calling them, should I email as well? What can I expect from them?

I booked an Iberia flight during the points promotion. Apparently one of the flights was this week. I got an email that they canceled the flight. Any chance I can get some compensation? Am I entitled to anything under EU law?

Route?
You should be entitled to compensation.

Also TLV - LON we had to divert to VIE for a sick passenger, is there any compensation for that?

My family was on an El-Al flight EWR -> TLV that was cancelled in 2016 due to the pilot's strike. They were rebooked on a flight through Boston and arrived in TLV the next day (more than 8 hrs after original arrival time). I submitted a compensation claim but El-Al Customer Relations responded that the claim doesn't fall under the Israeli Aviation Services law because of the labor dispute [paragraph 6 (e) (1)]. They offered a $200 voucher for future travel per person (x3) that expires in 1 year. My questions are:

1. Was there an official strike? Pilots didn't show up to work but what constitutes an official strike/labor dispute according to the law?
2. Should I push for more?
3. Does anyone know if the voucher is tied to the name of the passengers? Or can it be transferred to a single person?

Thanks
