I filed a claim with Air France for EU compensation due to a missed connection caused by airline.
filed Sep 5.
I didn't hear anything back yet.
anybody know their turnaround time?
I finally got a response, and it's not what I was expecting.
Any advice how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.
"Dear ******
Thank you for your communication dated September 5th, 2021 concerning flight DL*** (operated by AF***) from AAA TO AAA on August 25th, 2021. First and foremost, I hope you and your family are keeping safe during this pandemic situation, and please accept my sincere apologies for the unintentional delay in responding to you.
Having checked our records, please let me inform you that flight AF*** was delayed due to late inbound flight caused due to additional measures linked to covid-19 sanitary situation. As a result, you missed your connecting flight and were rebooked on the available alternative flights departing on the same day.
A situation like this that presents itself beyond our scope of influence can be regarded as an extraordinary circumstance. Therefore, it is not one where there is an entitlement to compensation under EU regulation 261/2004.
I am also sorry to learn that you have incurred additional travel costs at the final destination due to the disruption. Air France considers such a situation to be consequential damage. Pursuant to international agreements, no liability is accepted for loss of leave and/or vacation, missing appointments, loss of income, and incurring indirect costs at the final destination. I would request you to please contact your insurance to recover such loss."
The delay we had was about 30 minutes on the first leg, I believe there was still time to make the connecting flight, but just rebooked us on a later flight with another stop.
Besides that the baggage didn't make it on to the new flights, and we received it over 24 hours later.
