Is the consensus that it's better to call or better to write?

When is the flight, what date?

what is the reason for the delay?

See these for examples. If the delay falls under one of these

Incident: Inedible meal, with no replacement, meal made me sick

Well if it was a Lufthansa flight, you usually go to the airline you flew. Try lufthansa

Wasn't sure which to go to. Can I still complain to LH even though UA already "compensated" me?

Airline: United
Flight: LAX>SFO>RNO
Class: Economy
Incident: Valentine's Day weekend had a Tahoe trip planned. Flew from LAX to SFO, but flight delayed because crew was late. Even though we originally had an hour layover in SFO, we missed our connection. No other flights to LAX or RNO that night so only options were to drive the rest of the way or take a flight the next day. Next day flight pointless since it was a snowboarding trip and we were only going to be in Tahoe for three nights. Opted to drive the 5 hours from SF to Tahoe. Informed agent we were going to drive and requested our bags. Had to request three times and after 3 hours, bags finally arrived. Contacted CS via feedback and twitter. Just received a $107 refund for the first Reno leg and like 3k miles. Needless to say, as soon as I use up my miles, I'm finding another carrier.
