Airline: DL
Flight: JFK-TLV
Class: Coach
Incident: Hurricane Irene
Compensation: $1350 transferable DL dollars + saved me a MIA-JFK flight, upgrade to business on DTW-AMS, Y fare on AMS-TLV which caused an op-up to J.
I was in Miami, and had a separate ticket to get to NY. As soon as they announced flights were being cancelled I went to speak to a DL rep in FLL, after 2 hours of pressing he rebooked me on FLL-ATL-AMS-TLV.
At ATL the flight was overbooked by 28 pax, when I asked the GA why she wasn't soliciting volunteers she said she doesn't have any other flights to offer them... She was very grateful & took down my phone # while I went to the lounge. After 12 no-shows, me & another guy were the only volunteers, 15 pax were IDB with a riot ensuing... I had to pull out my laptop & help her found a routing... she insisted the most she can give me is $600 and no UG. I barely accepted it, but afterwards she pulled me aside and showed me a note to get $750 from the pro-desk plus confirmed in J ATL-DTW-AMS.
Next day I was supposed to leave DTW at 16:00 & have a layover in AMS 06:00 until 21:00. I again volunteered for $600, and got rebooked on the 22:00 flight to AMS, which just made my layover in AMS 6 hrs shorter.
I was offered another $600 to volunteer again, but was tired already.
After all the desks refused to give me the extra $150 the GA promised me in ATL, I got it from @deltaassist.
I actually had KSML on all int'l flights, but some had other pax's names.
Ever since then, every time I fly I pray for hurricanes.
