I would like a list of potential pitfalls. This is not the Shulchan Aruch here, but to raise awareness, so people will know to look into it, or ask their rabbi.

I don't see how this is such a hard Psak.

There are different ways of understanding Sefiras HaOmer and therefore there are different Minhagim that come out of these different understandings.

1) The Talmidim died until 33 or 34. That being so, one must wait to get a haircut/shave until Lag BaOmer by day or (Sefardim) 34 by day.

2) The Talmidim died 33 days, from Pesach until Shavuos. That being so, one must keep 33 days of Aveilus and one can be Miktzas HaYom KiKulo. Some therefore keep from Pesach til Lag BaOmer and some keep from Rosh Chodesh til Shavuos (but one can't burn the candle at both ends - R"CH til Lag B"O).

According to R' YYF, if one is getting a haircut/shave on Erev Shabbos, he has already used his MH"K up and therefore when Lag B"O comes he must wait until the day ends to get his full 33 days. It's not the biggest Chiddush and very understandable.
May one get married on Friday? No. Because pashtus MH”K isn’t a factor here, it’s a heter specific for כבוד שבת.

Additionally, its something not mentioned by all the achronim, you’d think we’d hear about it, after all the Remah goes second half, and he’s the one introducing the heter.

Ok. Does it mean that you still were in Aveilus the whole friday? I'm not following you.

Yes in a way. You were not allowed to dance and listen to music.
Back then no one shaved. If you got a haircut on Erev Shabbos you wouldn't get another one on Sunday.
Its only nowadays where one can be a religious Jew and still shave every day does the Shaila come up.
If you used up the miktzas hayom you shouldn't be able to do anything different on Sunday. Haircuts aren't the only aspect of the Aveilus.

Additionally, the achronim talk about other cases where one has a heter to take a haircut. A baal bris for example. Does anyone say he doesn't get heterim for Lag because he used up a day? I don't believe so.

That’s because they are using miktzas “hayom” from the night, iirc

An ice cream cone may require נט״י as the cone gets wet from the melting ice cream.

Source is R Reuvens hagadah. He goes through the whole sugya and quotes 2 people I know with firsthand stories.

If you wash all year, the kids won't ask why we do Orchatz.

On the topic of Reb moshe I’ll share from r simcha bunim cohen shabbos set (muktzah) that there are those who say you can’t move a lamp l’tzorech gufo or mekomo, however he writes he himself saw Reb moshe move a lamp on shabbos l’tzorech gufo. (And that r shlomo zalman also holds this way)
Sharing this bc I once heard a clip from someone (idk if he’s a rav or stam someone who learns halacha) saying it’s not well known that you can’t move a light on shabbos and you can only use the shabbos lamps that swivel etc. He even said those shabbos innovation lamps that are mini size and therefore are lighter, should avoid using it or be very careful that you’re not moving it when opening and closing.
